Trends come and go, but these six? They’re here to STAY!

From soft curves to bold stonework, cultural representation, and a throwback to the ‘70s & ‘80s—design is having a MOMENT. And let’s be real… glass bricks? I called it last year. 😏

Which trend is your fave? Drop it in the comments! ⬇️

Some trends start strong but overstay their welcome, making spaces feel generic, outdated, or uninspired. If your home or project still features things like neon signs, gray-on-gray everything, or farmhouse overload—it might be time for a refresh.

Good design isn’t just about following trends; it’s about creating a space that feels intentional, inviting, and timeless. In my latest article, I’m breaking down the trends that need to go and what to do instead.

Tell me, which trend are you ready to say goodbye to? 👇🏾

Great design isn’t just about how a space looks—it’s about how it connects with the people who use it. Here are the 6 design principles I’ve carried from my ad agency days into my work as an interior designer:

1. Know Your Audience: Designing without knowing who will use the space is like launching a product with no target customer. Always ask: Who is this space for?

2. Tell a Story: Every space should have a narrative. From furniture to decor, each piece should contribute to the story you’re telling.

3. Consistency is Key: Just like a brand needs a unified identity, a well-designed space should feel cohesive. That doesn’t mean everything matches—it means everything belongs.

4. Blend Form and Function: A beautiful space that doesn’t work for its purpose isn’t truly successful. Design with both utility and aesthetics in mind.

5. Evoke Emotion: The most memorable spaces spark a feeling—whether it’s nostalgia, joy, or inspiration. Emotional design leaves a lasting impression.

6. Focus on the Details: The smallest touches—like lighting, textures, or thoughtful amenities—turn a good design into a great experience.

These principles are the foundation of every space I create, from short-term rentals to residential homes.

What’s one design tip that’s helped you create a space guests love? Let’s discuss in the comments!

for we are taking it back to last month, where we wrapped up a bachelor pad makeover in Austin, TX!

One of the first things we worked on was the layout. Seeing the work space as soon as you walk into the apartment diminished the role of relaxation in the home. So we flipped it, creating a tv wall as the focal point and putting the work area underneath an alcove (not shown) that is out of sight.

Our client is a bit of a minimalist, so rather than use a media console table to create a focal area, we used paint! This way the wall doesn't feel like it is floating aimlessly on the wall.

The next part was choosing a palette. Our client loves purple and wanted something that was dramatic and unexpected. The french blue/deep teal and grey colors brought warmth in a more masculine way. And we love it! This bach pad is definitely for the grown and sexy ;)

We'll be sharing more photos of this cool project over the next few weeks so check back in!

There is no shame to our game...we stan for Black as an accent color! It just has a way of making a statement without yelling at ya, y'know?

In our client's bedroom, we used black as a way to add subtle boldness and some grounding to a room that was very light and airy. We love how Black manages to almost become a neutral tone in this palette because it still allows other colors/textures/images to shine.

What are your thoughts on black as a color in your space? Have you tried? What's stopped you if not?

Weelllll, we beg to differ. 🤷🏾‍♀️

With our help, our amazing client transformed their living space from a toddler playground to a space for 'grown folk' to relax, dine and entertain.

Oh, the toys are still there! They just have a new home ;)

Swipe right to see the dramatic transformation!

Today's is dedicated to our very first completed project earlier this year in Harlem. We transformed this living room into a bold midcentury-meets-boho, IG-worthy space for our bubbly client who loves to entertain. ⠀
⠀
Today, as we reflect on our very first year in business, we thank her and our other clients who trusted us to turn their rented spaces into homes they now belong in. ⠀
⠀
It's been a learning year for us; things weren't always perfect, and a pandemic slowed things up to a glacial pace at times. But we had the best, most understanding clients this year, who deserve to know they are appreciated. ⠀
⠀
We are, at our core, champions of interior design as a vehicle for overall wellness for ALL. Renters deserve the benefits of well-designed spaces just like owners, and we will do our part to make it so!⠀
⠀
We can't wait to be of service to more renters in 2021, creating a greater sense of belonging, one apartment at a time. ⠀
⠀
Here's to an amazing year y'all!

It's December 22nd ICYMI. Which means the opportunity to squeeze in a few days of holiday decor are numbered (SAD!). ⠀
⠀
If you're anything like our team and a Christmas tree just isn't in the cards, we got you! ⠀
⠀
Bring a little life, oxygen, and cheer to your home with a new houseplant that will outlive the temporary holiday season. Add a few ornaments from the dollar section at and you're GOLDEN. Alternatively, you can use ornaments, candles as accent pieces bringing that holiday color palette to life! ⠀
⠀
Anyone else still haven't quite decorated yet? Be honest...we're not judging! ;) ⠀

Note to self: keep climbing sis.

For me art is both a source of joy and inspiration. These pieces spoke to me because this journey I’m on is a looooonggg road.

But I’m ready for it.
