Dada was a flashpoint in Art History. Leading up to WWI, a group became frustrated with the gatekeeping and pretension of the art world, governments, the economy, and society at large. They were also bothered by the rise in Nationalism and found all of these structures and ideas absurd. They leaned hard into absurdity and spontaneity to push back and highlight how absurd and ridiculous all of the systems truly were. They declared art is for everyone and everything is art!

The Dada movement was known for their famous soirees. Meeting in salons and having lively debates about systems and change. 2026 needs Dada! Dada ATX will meet at local coffee shops to CREATE: Art, Community & Change!
