Having left her condo in San Francisco for a more humdrum life in January 2022, Dr. Helen Hudson (Weaver) finds a beautiful, secluded estate in the hills of Weirdsville, Hickstate a burgeoning metropolis. She meets Tom Charles, a middle aged gay man, that becomes her assistant, who reminds her of her murdered best friend Andy. They soon become fast friends until Tom suddenly stops showing up for work & refuses to leave his house.
Helen searches for clues about this man's past to see if she can free him from the fear holding him from leaving his home. Upon investigating Tom’s background, Helen learns that Darryl Lee’s (her deceased serial-killer nemesis) niece Henrietta Cullum belongs to a Christian Ministry in town that Tom belonged to in adolescence.
Helen’s own anxious tendencies start to act up with suspicions that the Ministry (including Tom’s former friends & even his own mother) is not only behind her friend's silent seclusion, but also the spread of Coronavirus in the area. In the midst of the chaos caused by the outbreak, it seems that many lives have been left unenumerated as missing. Children & elderly are unaccounted for throughout the area, especially the ones in Henrietta’s congregation.
Disturbed by her revelations & the lack of effort by local law enforcement to recognize her experience with killers & their patterns, Helen flies out Detective M.J. Monahan (Hunter) to help put the malevolent ministry out of the business of killing & free Tom from the cultish night stalkers keeping him in his seemingly agoraphobic tomb.
