"God is good."

I think about that moment a lot. Because it would have been so easy so understandable to lead with the career stuff. The journey. The struggle. The names he'd been passed over for. But that's not where he went first. He went somewhere else.

He thanked God. Then he called out to his mom, who had been his date to nearly every award show this entire season. Then his dad — who had flown all the way from Ghana just to be in that room.
