Because of the popularity of her group, the Motor City R***e, you may associate Layonne Holmes with Motown music alone. If so, you're in for a real treat as this INTERMEZZO features four songs that highlight her musical chops.
Like a precious pearl, Pat Guadagno is one of a kind. This week I'm featuring two of his songs, including a live rendition of a Bob Dylan classic. Prepared to be entertained.
Just got back from the Art in the Age Of Covid show. Blown away. I don’t know what I expected, but I got much much more. So many incredible works in so many different media. Bravo to all of the great artists and thanks to the AHAC for curating and showcasing such a marvel! You made my day. 🙏😀😷
Every two weeks, I'm interviewing artists from this area: musicians, singers, painters, writers, chefs. And in each conversation, I try to learn something new. But this week, I didn't learn anything I didn't already know about this artist, probably because I interviewed myself!
Here's a Christmas surprise: music from Line Drive. Never heard of them? You don't know what you're missing.
Todd Sherman is passionate about music. So, don't just think Barnacle Bill's in Rumson NJ when you hear his name. Think great music, both his and the live performances he has supported for years. In this conversation, we discuss how club owners treat musicians, how folk music inspired him and how Steve Van Zandt's maracas almost caused an on stage fist fight.
While my podcast interviews will post every other week, in between you'll be treated to artistic works by my many interviewees. This week I'm featuring novelist and Keyport resident, Joseph Pittman, reading part of chapter one in his newest novel, "The Case of the Con in Cannes," where you're introduced to his recurring character, Todd Gleason.
Once you've heard Jose Loo sing, you'll never forget him. For many, many years he fronted the popular and incredibly tight band, Line Drive, transforming them from an instrumental fusion jazz ensemble to a showcase for his original music.
Singing is definitely what he is best known for, but as a songwriter, arranger and keyboard player, he is revered among musicians. Those who know him best understand his onstage charisma - what you see is what you get: a genuine person.
You can call him a Jack of all talents, because Robert Mandelberg's talents are endless. He's an actor, writer, producer, movie maker, magician, humorist and mind reader. . . you name it, he's done it and done it well. Along with his wife Nika and daughter Ellie, he's part of a powerhouse family of creativity.
My conversation with Belmar native Cody McCorry - bassist & composer - travels from a discussion about Frank Zappa to music theory to the musicality of rap. At 27, his success as a musician is a testament to his hard work, perseverance and just plain old talent.
From nature to nudes, Holmdel resident Grace Modla's paintings are vibrant and beautiful. Her dreamlike work is inspired by nature, nudes and abstracts, and she likes to create her art like a master chef, adding just the right elements to give it texture and depth.
