🎭 **In 1967, Badal Sircar wrote *Pagla Ghoda*. More than half a century later, its questions still echo.**

Badal Sircar (1925–2011) was not just a playwright—he transformed the language of Indian theatre. In the late 1960s and 1970s, he pioneered **Third Theatre**, a movement that challenged conventional proscenium theatre by bringing performances closer to people. With minimal props, simple spaces, and the actor's body and voice at the center, he proved that powerful theatre doesn't need grand sets—it needs honest storytelling.

His plays shifted the focus from spectacle to human emotion, making theatre intimate, accessible, and deeply thought-provoking. That artistic revolution continues to inspire theatre practitioners across India and beyond.

At **PACA Theater**, every rehearsal of **Pagla Ghoda** is more than practice—it's a journey into one of India's most influential modern classics. Between intense scenes come moments of laughter, friendship, discovery, and the joy of creating theatre together.

Synopsis: Written in 1967 by Bengali visionary Badal Sircar, pioneer of India’s Third Theatre movement, Pagla Ghoda uses a raw, minimalist stage language to explore ego, fear, guilt, and the mishandling of love.

Set over one night during a young woman’s final rites, the play brings together four men in a stark transitional space. As their casual conversations move between memory and the present, long-buried truths begin to surface, revealing emotional contradictions, unresolved guilt, and the hypocrisies that shape human relationships. It leaves us with a haunting question: What becomes of love when we fear confronting the selves it reveals?
