Jill Alpert Miller is thrilled to be making her Butts Acting Guild debut as Dot in The Savannah Sipping Society. A lifelong theatre enthusiast, Jill holds a bachelor's degree in Theatre and Performance from Montclair State College and has spent many years both onstage and behind the scenes. While she previously served as Co-President of The New Depot Players Board of Directors, her true passion has always been performing.

She has an extensive theatrical background, with favorite credits including Working, Radium Girls, Sweet Delilah Swim Club, Disaster: The Musical, Cabaret, and Red Velvet Cake Wars. She is especially proud of her experiences performing in New York City, including appearances with the New York Grand Opera Chorus at Carnegie Hall and presenting her own one-woman cabaret performances in Greenwich Village.

When not on stage, Jill serves as the Event Marketing Manager at the Georgia International Horse Park and has worked for the City of Conyers for more than 21 years.

Jill extends her thanks to the BAG for its warm welcome. Special love and gratitude go to Randy and Gabby for their unwavering support. She hopes you enjoy all the Southern shenanigans about to unfold!

🎭✨ CAST ANNOUNCEMENT: *Singin' in the Rain Jr. & Sr.* ✨🎭

The Butts Acting Guild is thrilled to announce the cast of Singin' in the Rain Jr. & Sr.!

Originally planned as a senior production, this show has evolved into something even more special—a truly intergenerational experience featuring performers who are either 18 and under or 55 and older. Bringing these two generations together on stage creates a unique opportunity for mentorship, friendship, learning, and fun, and we couldn't be more excited to watch the magic unfold.

At BAG, one of our core values is building community through the arts. We believe theatre has the power to connect people across ages, backgrounds, and life experiences. This production embodies that vision perfectly.

This collaboration aligns beautifully with our ongoing commitment to increasing engagement, fostering participation, and strengthening the sense of community that makes local theatre so special.

The curtain is getting ready to rise on Singin’ in the Rain Sr., and we’re looking for talented, energetic, fun-loving performers ready to step into the spotlight! Whether you’ve been on stage before or always wanted to give it a try, this is your chance to sing, dance, laugh, and prove that passion doesn’t come with an age limit.

Because talent doesn’t retire… and neither does fun. ☔🎭

Other pluses:
Shorter show time (1hr) and fewer performances (2)
As a result, shorter and less frequent rehearsals than a full-scale production (2 hrs, 3x week, daytime and evening options)
Memorization of lines and lyrics not required for certain roles

Auditions were fantastic last night! We saw some great actors. We will have auditions again tonight so we hope to see you there! There’s no need to have anything prepared so come out and “play!”

Butts Acting Guild is holding auditions for Savannah Sipping Society on May 18 and 19 at the Butts County Recreation Center (576 Ernest Biles Drive, Jackson) from 6:30-8:30. Performances will be August 21-23. Auditions will be cold reads from the script.

Characters:
Randa (plays 49) Randa is a perfectionist and workaholic, struggling with a surprise career derailment that, unfortunately, reveals she has no life and no idea how to get one.
Dot (plays 69) Dot is still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and the loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement. She also faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch-and all alone.
Marlafaye (plays 57) Earthy and boisterous, Marlafaye is a good ‘ol’ Texas gal. She has blasted into Savannah in the wake of losing her tom-cattin’ husband to a 23 year old dental hygienist. The strength of her desire to establish a new life is equaled only by her desire to wreck revenge on her ex.
Jinx (plays 53) Also new to town, Jinx, a spunky ball of fire, offers her much needed services as a life coach for these women. However, blinded by her determination and efforts to get their lives on track, she overlooks the fact that’s she’s the one most in need of advice.
