Butts Acting Guild

🍬 Think The BAG folks are sitting around eating bonbons until Shrek auditions in January? NOT A CHANCE! 😂

The curtain may be down for the moment, but the Butts Acting Guild is staying BUSY — and you’ll be seeing plenty of us around town!

💚 October 24: We’re bringing a little bit of the swamp to Trunks of Treats with a Shrek-themed trunk!

🎄 Festival of Trees: Look for our BAG tree at the Chamber during the holiday season. And yes… you can expect a little theatrical flair.

🎅 December 4: We’re taking the swamp on the road with a Shrek-themed float in the Jackson Christmas Parade!

🎶 Christmas Tree Lighting: Some familiar BAG cast members will trade their costumes for old-fashioned Christmas caroler attire and help usher in the season with a little holiday music.

And THEN…

🧅 SHREK THE MUSICAL auditions are coming in JANUARY!

So no, there will be no bonbon-eating around here. 😂 We’ve got things to build, trees to decorate, songs to sing, a parade to conquer…and apparently a swamp to create.

Stay tuned — BAG is just getting started!💚🎭

We are still flying high after the huge success of Singin’ in the Rain Jr/Sr this weekend!

But, theater work never ends so we’re already onto the next project.

We want to repurpose the (fantastic) life-sized cake from Singin’ in the Rain - thank you Jared Godin for your fantastic work making it for us - but we need a place to store it until next Spring. It’s about 6’ wide and 4’ tall. Does anyone have space to house it for us?

🇺🇸 On September 11, we remember not only the tragedy, but also the extraordinary acts of kindness that followed.

When U.S. airspace was closed on September 11, 2001, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland.

Almost overnight, the people of Gander and the surrounding communities opened their schools, churches, homes — and hearts — to thousands of complete strangers.

They provided food, clothing, beds, showers, medicine, transportation, phones to call home, and perhaps most importantly, comfort at a moment when the world felt frightening and uncertain.

That remarkable true story became the Broadway musical Come From Away — a show about one of the darkest days in our history, but also about the very best of humanity.

If you have never seen Come From Away, we encourage you to see it. (It’s currently available on AppleTV.) It is funny, heartbreaking, uplifting, and a powerful reminder that even in the midst of unimaginable tragedy, ordinary people can choose extraordinary kindness.

And we are incredibly excited and honored to bring this show to our community next year.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember those who ran toward danger.

And we remember a little town called Gander that showed the world what it means to welcome a stranger.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
