His parents which separated when he was a infant, Maurice began to live with his grandparents in a small oppressed neighborhood called Georgetown. His grandparents ran a juke-joint in the neighborhood to make ends meet. Maurice Took Advantage of the "Latchkey kid" and begin to inherit the street-life. He learn very quickly how to survive and started hustling drugs to make a living. Maurice was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon at the age of a minor. After conviction Maurice was sentence to spend three months in a behavioral Emotional program and given probation. While serving three months in this program he began to write songs about his emotions.
