Welcome to The Order of the Fifth Phoenix! Our goal, if goal is the word, is to invite attention. To ourselves. To objects and sites that we may see but do not pay attention to. We hope to give attention to these places and objects and receive the gift of that attention in return.
How it works:
We meet at a location near the site.
Someone rings a bell. We walk to the site. A bell will ring indicating silence, no cell phones, no pictures.
We invite your attention to the site/object in silence for seven minutes.
A bell will ring and everyone is encouraged to engage with the site, take pictures, talk to people (except members of the group).
A bell will ring and it's open discussion as we walk to a place for... open discussion.
There will be brief presentations about the site/object (history, significance) and then more discussion until people feel like going home or to a watering hall.
That's it. It's just giving, bringing, focusing attention on something. We invite you to join us.
