🎉 MS-ALIS Graduation Spotlight: Elayne McGrail🎓

MS-ALIS, French - Summer 2024
Elayne McGrail has worked effortlessly in the MS-ALIS program since day one! Graduating with her B.S. ALIS in Fall 2022, Elayne joined the MS-ALIS and hit the ground running. She’s presented in several conferences this past year, attended countless GT French related events, and also worked as Dr. Lyon’s GRA, all while maintaining a 4.0 gpa. It was such an honor to have Elayne awarded the 2024 Excellence in MS-ALIS Graduate Student award. 🏆

Elayne writes that her favorite part of the MS-ALIS was “getting to work and collaborate with people from a variety of language concentrations, and just being a part of such a tight-knit, creative, and forward-thinking department in general.” 📚

This summer Elayne will be working closely with Dr. Stephanie Boulard, Dr. Andrea Johnson, and Dr. Narin Hassan on her thesis focused on the discussions and representations of abortion in French films. 🎞️

✨Elayne has a bright future ahead of her, as she will be taking a gap year to work and travel before starting her Ph.D. in 2025!

🎉 MS-ALIS Graduation Spotlight: Mary Peabody 🎓

MS-ALIS, Spanish - Spring 2024
Mary Peabody joined ML in Fall 2022 and has worked tirelessly not only as a MS-ALIS graduate student but also as a full-time employee as a Learning Experience (LX) Designer at Georgia State University. 💻

Mary’s favorite part of the MS-ALIS has been working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines. She writes, “it’s been fun to see how similar ideas are about learning and design and can span seemingly unrelated fields.” She also gave Osvaldo Cleger’s Photography class a huge shoutout! 📸

After graduation she hopes to keep applying what she learned in the program to her career and to collaborate more across higher ed. 📚

✨Mary has been advised by Dr. David Shook and will be presenting her final project on “Exploring the Intersection of Higher Education Program Review and Service Design,” on Tuesday, May 7th, 10:00am - 11:00am, in Swann 123.
