In 1964 Sidney Poitier became the first African American actor and first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. His historic win paved the way for actors like James Earl Jones, Laurence Fishburne, Denzel Washington and many many more talented African American actors to win the award after him.

We will continue to honor Mr. Poitier’s life and legacy by sharing his accomplishments throughout this week.

CAU’s Theatre and Communication Studies Department will be celebrating the accomplishments of award-winning actor, director and diplomat Sidney Poitier. All week long we will be sharing facts about his legacy in honor of what would have been his 95th Birthday.

It's THIS Friday December 18th-Saturday December 19th at 7:30pm and Sunday December 20th at 3 PM.

We have had a great time partnering with Rider University this semester with two of their professors and some of their students, engaging with our students in Musical Theatre. This cabaret is the culmination of that partnership.
