I covered Dolly back in 2023. I was on a big kick at the time. To try to describe how much dolly meant to me seems silly, as she meant so much to everyone else for different reasons. As a femme musician who grew up in the south, dealt with my share of loneliness from being different, being poor, being the only woman in a room full of men - those are only the beginnings of the reasons why Dolly is so important to me. She taught me so much - how to be brave, how you can be both sensitive and strong at the same time, to not let anyone dim your light, and how to love people. Her inspiration to me goes beyond what most artists can express in one lifetime - her music, her aesthetics, her boldness, her humor, and her wisdom will stay with me forever and I can only hope that one day I/my music can make people feel the way dolly made me feel as a little girl and today as an adult woman Thank u dolly π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦we will always love you
