My work is, more than anything, an exploration and celebration of color and texture. I am entranced by the way a line moves across a surface and can divide a piece into dynamic sections, or how the application or removal of a bit of clay or paint from one area can create a dramatic focal point. I am enchanted by combinations of color that can cause one other vibrate. I love the tactile nature of clay and the ability to affect changes on its surface with different tools and methods; scraping and scratching onto it, carving away areas, smoothing and burnishing others. I love to paint and enjoy creating clay pieces that are canvases for colorful imagery and decoration. Much of my inspiration comes from nature and my work often features images that seem botanical or biological in nature. I have also been greatly influenced by my travels and the colors and patterns that I have seen in the arts and handicrafts of people and places that I have visited. My goal is to create work that is both functional and beautiful and that brings joy and delight to its user/viewer. Ceramics, jewelry, paintings and prints by mixed media artist Charity Hofert. Anyone who knows me knows that I cannot be without something to work on, even when I am on a trip or during any kind of vacation. If I don't have something creative or "productive" to do, I feel a little crazy. Dan and I had a really wonderful long weekend visiting our daughter at college in PA. We rented an Airbnb and had a super relaxing/fun time with our girl and some of her friends. It was awesome.

In between and amongst some of the hanging out i made some tiny work. ☺️ 🩷

Now we are heading back to Atlanta with full hearts from time spent with our youngest... on our way home, we will swing through Virginia and pick up our sweet eldest who has been there for a few days. Love these kiddos!!!

My husband made this built-in in our dining room a few years back. It is my favorite place to display some of the pottery i have collected over the years, as well as much of my jadite collection. It is also a favorite area to style for different seasons and holidays. It's amazing how well this green glassware compliments just about any seasonal motif or color scheme. I love it with some Halloween decorations tucked in here and there!

For those of you who bought something in my online sale, i have sent out all of the messages about your packages, totals etc.... every box is labeled and ready to head out. Most of you have already paid and your packages headed out today. I am still waiting on payment from a few folks. I am not in any rush, but i did want to let you all know that if you are able to pay by the end of the day today, i can send your package out in the morning. Otherwise, it will be another week before i can get it on its way. I will be away from the studio until the 14th. I will resume shipping at that time. But, if you want your pieces sooner so that you can decorate for more of spooky month, please go ahead and try to take care of payment today.

Never as many orders as during a winter or spring sale... but considering all of the items are pretty tiny, it was a tidy little sale. Now that everything is packed up, i will begin working on labeling. As soon as i have the postage for your package, I will reach out for payment. I hope to have all of these taken care of today, but we'll see how the afternoon unfolds....

I am going to head down to the studio and try to get a few hours in down there, but i will follow up with any outstanding convos later this afternoon/evening or tomorrow at the latest. Believe it or not, there are still lots of great pieces left, so feel free to reach out if you've had your eye on something. You're not too late!

I have consolidated the work that remains and taken some fresh pictures... i have tried to group things together so that you can see each item clearly.

The black background is so fun for the in person show, but it doesn't make the best backdrop for photos.

As you can see, there are lots of houses and trees left. I really went nuts making these! 😜

Here are all of the houses in a single shot, as well as the pumpkin plates/dishes that i still have.

Pumpkins, witch hats, pumpkin stacks, eyeball plants, candles....

Mushroom houses with spooky toppers, some more pumpkins and ghosts under cloches, mushroom ghosts, little raven dishes....

Ghosts with things on their heads, a few more kitty ghosts, tiny jack-o-lanterns, larger rainbow and black and white pumpkins, little dishes with skulls, bats, spider webs....
