“Glitch: The Persistence of Obsessive Thought”

This piece went through several conceptual ideas and working titles. In the end, I felt it was constricting and tightly wound. It conveys the uncomfortable way my mind feels when I become caught up in obsessive and repetitive thought patterns. I didn’t get to use my tardigrade, but I love it so much I am going to use it in another piece.

Spring semester my research focused on mold making and casting which I had very little experience with. I worked with some new sculpting mediums as well as several mold making materials and applications. It was one of my favorite educational experiences to date. The air sculpt epoxy was very hard to work with and detail. The pliability had to be carefully timed in stages depending on the desired outcome. Hopefully I will be able to refine techniques, process and detail.

I struggle mentally when I am working with materials that are chemical in nature. I am hoping to explore more environmentally friendly materials.
