We've all been there where we want to fit in with everyone else around us. Be accepted as part of the group trying our best not to stand out.

But as Dr. Seuss so elegantly states we were not born to fit in. We were born to stand out.

This is a message I'm trying to install into my daughter. Be comfortable being yourself, not trying to be a carbon copy of those around you.

If they don't accept you then that means they're not supposed to be in your life. For those who love you and accept you for your individuality will be there for you and stick with you.

Some of the best conversations I have with my daughter come from moments when she encounters difficulties or obstacles in life. She's now approaching the age where the go-to comment is, "I can't do that."

We all face obstacles in our life, and the easy way is to say, well, that's not something I can do.

But instead of focusing on the areas where you feel inadequate, focus on the places where you can do something. Concentrating on what you can do will make you feel a sense of accomplishment, plus it will give you the confidence to take on those things you first think you cannot do.

If nothing else, this believes in you! You Can Do IT!!!
