Jesus
My Lord, My God, My All

His body: broken.
His blood: poured out.

The most perfect Man the world could ever know, now nailed to a tree.
It is there He hangs lifeless for you, and for me.

Yet from death, He brings forth life.
From the pit of darkness: LIGHT.

His blood that deemed His death final,
Now a cup to drink, bringing revival.

Far be it from my God to poke a wound for fun,
but it is only the loving gift of His Son
in whom my battles can be won.

We praise You Jesus for the gift of Your body and blood poured out for us as our daily sustenance and salvific cure.

Happy Holy Thursday. 🤎

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature” —Luke 2:52

He mysteriously grew in the womb of a virgin,
as His Father entrusted Him to one who was to be called “blessed”.

He didn’t regard equality with God as something to be grasped,
but emptied Himself — and became flesh by means of a woman.

And under her faithfulness, guidance, and care,

under the Father’s wisdom, grace, and provision,

Jesus Christ matured in age and knowledge.

Oh, but I wish I only could have been there

To witness the gaze He meets His mother with

To hear of the quiet secrets she and her Son would exchange

of all the prophecies soon to be fulfilled.

For “Blessed [was] she who believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.” [Lk 1:45]

By the grace of God, this mother-Son duo had a Heavenly trust that the Father would provide for them in their greatest need.

It was all only a matter of time

From the crib to the cross
From rejection to the redemption
From grave to the glory

I wonder the ways He looked to His mom to learn how she pondered these difficult yet glorious things in her heart. [Lk 2:19]

The Father so loved His only begotten Son to bestow upon Him the gift of a favored woman to call “Mother”.
For she certainly came to be His safe place, His confidant, and His hiding place. He hid in the refuge of the Father while also finding safety in the bosom of the Mother.

Fully God, fully man.

I can only imagine the stories she has to tell.

“He whom the heavens cannot contain was contained in the womb of a woman.” — St. Augustine

VENITE ADOREMUS
“O come, let us adore Him”

Here’s a drawing of the tabernacle from the Camp Hidden Lake chapel — a sacred place I find myself each morning in prayer. Humbled before the LORD, my gaze is lifted upwards as He reminds me that there is nowhere I could flee His presence.

“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.”

How privileged is this life that you and I get to live

A simple one
Yet never dull

One that comes alive with color
And the sounds of the birds singing their daily prayers
Even in the rain
And even in the winter

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.
He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11

Our Father, the ultimate Gardener, and the kindest Vinedresser,
is to be fully trusted with the pruning of our souls.
He deems the time for green buds to soon blossom — for fall to fade and for winter to come. He has our best interest at heart; we only need to trust Him.

And yes,
even in the waiting.

There could never be enough books in the world to contain the things He has done.

King of Kings,
Lord of Lords,
Good Shepherd,
Lover of our souls,
Author of our stories,
Miracle-Worker,
Promise-Keeper,

Lamb who was slain.

He is worth our everything.🤎

I have begun learning the deep value found in surrounding ourselves with beauty.

In my humanity, I want to open my eyes each day and visibly see that His mercies are new every morning — here are some of the ways I do so:

Tangibly clinging to the image of Love Incarnate discovered in a crucifix

Physically warmed by the radiance of a scented candle

Living into a spirit of gratitude by gazing upon photos of my loved ones

Finding within arm’s reach the Word of God that can deliver me from any pit of darkness.

You see,
I am a firm believer that icons and images,
words and phrases,
are empty and in vain if used improperly.

They alone hold no power.

BUT, when animated by the Spirit of God,

they can completely alter the way we view the world and receive the Father’s limitless mercies. They can, in fact, be a gift to our human tendencies.

(And yes, for the better.)

So, here’s your reminder to surround yourself with beauty,
and to fill your space with knick-knack’s that serve as a vessel of His boundless grace.

We praise You and we thank You, O LORD,

That in the same way You would allow the sun to rise each morning,

Painting the sky,
Illuminating all of creation,
And casting out darkness,

So too does Your mercy meet us.

Justifying us by Your righteousness,
Ridding our souls of fear,
And bringing hope afresh.

There has never been a love so great.
