Tonight was an inspiring evening celebrating small businesses and non-profits at the Best in Business Awards event at McCandless Hall.

Athens Arts League was one of several nominees for Best Non-Profit of the Year. Congratulations to our regional Habitat for Humanity chapter for being selected as the recipient!

Businesses we bank with, shop with and dine with were nominated and won awards. Non-profits we collaborate with were represented as nominees.

This is a thriving community because of the small businesses and non-profits represented tonight. Thank you Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce and Athens State University for a lovely evening honoring those who make a difference in Athens and Limestone County.

We welcomed one of the Athens-Limestone County Tourism Haunts Walk tour groups to Scout House tonight.

Because of Fall Break, we had volunteers who provided water, candy, a bathroom break and a short history on Scout House and our Patti Malone portrait.

We also learned we may have a ghost of our own….
