🎶 Friday at the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival was a musical journey through the Nordic countries and beyond!

From traditional folk tunes and spirited Scandinavian melodies to beautiful vocal performances, talented instrumentalists, and lively cultural entertainment, there was truly something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

Festival guests were treated to an incredible variety of musical performances, each bringing its own unique sound, history, and personality to the stage. Whether you found yourself tapping your feet to an upbeat tune, singing along to a familiar song, or discovering a new favorite performer, the music helped create the joyful atmosphere that makes Midsummer so special.

One of the highlights of the Festival is the opportunity to experience so many different styles of music in one place, performed by talented musicians who are passionate about preserving and sharing Nordic traditions.

Thank you to all of the performers who filled the fairgrounds with music, energy, and unforgettable memories. Friday was a wonderful reminder that music is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together and celebrate our shared heritage. 🎻🎼🎤🇩🇰🇫🇮🇮🇸🇳🇴🇸🇪

☀️ What a spectacular weekend of sunshine, laughter, and Scandinavian celebrations at the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for three wonderful days of festivities. Whether you came for the lively music, energetic dancers, talented performers, unique vendors, delicious Nordic foods, or simply to spend time with family and friends, you helped make this year's Festival truly special.
We loved seeing guests enjoying plates of lefse, æbleskivers, pea soup, open-faced sandwiches, and so many other Scandinavian favorites. Thank you for supporting our food booths, shopping with our vendors, and taking home treasures and memories from the weekend.
Most importantly, thank you for bringing your smiles, enthusiasm, and Festival spirit. From the youngest Barnefest participants to longtime Festival supporters, each of you helped create an atmosphere filled with joy, tradition, and community.
As we pack away the decorations and reflect on another successful Festival, our hearts are full of gratitude. Thank you for celebrating Nordic heritage with us and for helping keep this beloved tradition alive.

Volunteers are the backbone of the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. Its success is due to a coalition of organizations working together to preserve Nordic traditions and heritage - the festival association, the non-profit heritage association, Friends of Suomi Hall, Finnish Brotherhood Lodge #2, Lower Columbia Danish Society, Sons of Norway Nidaros #16, VASA Swedish Lodge, Scandinavian Benevolent Society, and more. Many volunteers work year round preparing for the festival and give the third weekend in June scheduling priority in the their life. Volunteers come from out-of-town and out-of state too! A thousand thanks to all of them and to those of you who came to the festival and to the great vendors and entertainers who show up too. Enjoy a sampling of photos of volunteers who were still at the fairgrounds on Sunday.

A special congratulations to Miss Finland, Sophie Saarheim, who will have the honor of serving as the 2026 Sankta Lucia Bride.

Sophie has represented her Finnish heritage with grace, kindness, and pride throughout her time on the Senior Court. Her dedication to preserving and celebrating Nordic traditions reflects the true spirit of Sankta Lucia—a tradition that brings light, hope, and joy during the darkest days of the year.

We are excited to see Sophie continue her journey as she carries on this cherished Scandinavian tradition. We know she will represent the Lucia Court with the same warmth, dignity, and enthusiasm that she has brought to the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival.

Please join us on November 27th, 2026, 7pm at Astoria High School as we celebrate The Festival of Lights and the beautiful Sankta Lucia Celebration. This beloved event is a treasured part of our Scandinavian heritage and a wonderful way to begin the holiday season.
Congratulations, Sophie. May this special honor create memories that will last a lifetime, and may your light continue to inspire all those around you. ❤️🇫🇮🕯️
