Touch of Home

Touch of Home "Touch of Home" is a cause to help many people in need during the winter months by collecting new crocheted and knitted scarves to give to these folks.

Each year, the community of knitters and crocheters will be asked to make new scarves for people who are in need during the cold weather months. Touch of Home will send these scarves to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota as handmade symbols of love. There are so many people who struggle with the winter months, and with a little bit of effort, our community can make a big difference. Please

bring or send your handmade scarves to: Touch of Home, ℅ Brightside Gallery, 170 Worth Street, Asheboro, NC 27203. Scarf requirements: Acrylic yarn----must be machine wash, machine dry. Colors-----earthy, and good for males or females. Sizes: Adult---7 inches wide, 6 feet long; child---5 inches wide, 4 feet long.

It’s not too late to get your handmade scarves brought to the Brightside Gallery collection point to be included in this year’s scarf distribution at the end of September.

Thank you to all of those who have participated and continue to participate in this humble ministry. Stitch by stitch, we are making a difference for those in need. 💜

What a difference a little LOVE can make to a person who is in need and suffering. Thank you to each and every fiber artist who cared enough to give of themselves to help so many who have nothing. Hundreds of folks at the Greensboro Urban Ministry will be warmer this winter because of YOU! Let’s get busy now so we can help again next year!💞💞💞

SUCCESSFUL first year!!! Here I am with our thirteen big boxes of the handmade fiber items that were mailed to the Pine Ridge Reservation the third week of September. Our final count was as follows: 601 scarves, 45 pairs of slippers, 43 hats, and 1 queen size afghan……a total of 690 items! We have already begun getting scarves in for sending out to these folks in September of 2017. Please spread the word about our program. The social worker at the reservation whom I am in contact with continued to stress the need and appreciation for scarves and cowls. She sends a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make this project such a great success!

It was like old home week to have my long-time friend, Trixie Philpot (and her three year old grandson, Landon) drop in today to deliver a large box of handmade scarves that Trixie made with Landon's help for the Touch of Home project. A great gift of such love and kindness deserves a heartfelt thank you! So many folks will be helped because of Trixie's love for others.
