ArtLords realized the opportunity for converting the negative psychological impact of blast walls on the people of Kabul into a positive visual experience. By placing issues of concer

ning ordinary citizens on the blast walls, ArtLords has been enabled to create a space where social issues can be expressed in a visual manner and discussed in the street, where the open art workshops take place. ArtLords provide a platform for dialogue among ordinary people on the streets of Kabul. It is giving a visual voice to the voiceless, which is the motivated dynamic behind the very existence of the movement. ArtLords is to promote the message of peace in Afghanistan through the expressivity of the arts and culture. It wished to portray a visual representation of the communities’ desire to move from war towards peace. Creating a relationship between people and art, by bringing art to the people, allows for a much-needed psychological shift that opens up people’s minds to new prospects. The use of art opens up space for ‘emotions without affiliation’. It stimulates critical thought and helps people understand that war is a commonly shared experience and that only a common effort, coming from within society, can bring about peace in Afghanistan, South Asia and Middle East. ArtLords will pursue an arts-based methodology that will be conceptually grounded, coordinated with other civil society stakeholders and representatives, infused with a long-term perspective vis-à-vis the nature of social change and will be responsible about evaluating its effectiveness and impact. ArtLords will thereby act as a platform that allows for the use of the arts for specific tasks that measurably contribute to consent building on any given subject and that contributes to the positive transformation of society. ArtLords is the pioneer and the first organization that started mural paintings in Afghanistan. The organization have 7 offices in Afghanistan and an office in Virginia, United States.

We are delighted to begin this meaningful partnership with Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area. Together, we will use art and storytelling to honor refugee experiences, amplify their voices, and create deeper connections and belonging across our communities.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with ArtLords , an internationally recognized artist collective known for using art to amplify the voices and experiences of immigrant and refugee communities.

At LSSNCA, we believe every person deserves to be seen with dignity, welcomed with compassion, and supported as they build a new sense of belonging.

Through this partnership, we're looking forward to collaborating through art and storytelling to connect, inspire, and engage our community.

To all refugees, displaced people, exiles, and immigrants: I see you.

The pain of leaving home and trying to build a new life in another country is a grief that only those who have lived it can truly understand. It is the loss of language, familiarity, belonging, and often the loss of the people and places that once made us who we are. There is no easy comparison for it.

Many of you begin again below zero. You arrive carrying memories, responsibilities, fear, and hope all at once. You work twice as hard just to reach the same starting line. You learn new systems, new languages, new rules, and somehow still find the strength to care for your families, support your communities, and dream again.

And yet, so many of you are not only surviving, you are thriving. You are building businesses, raising children, creating art, serving your communities, and proving every day that resilience is stronger than displacement.

Be proud of yourself.

You are brave. You are resilient. Your journey matters, your sacrifices matter, and your presence enriches the places you now call home.

I see you. And you are not alone.
