After-School Classes

If you are still looking for something for your students ages 10-17 to do on Monday & Tuesday school work days, please enroll them in our 2-day Movie Musical Theatre Camp with Terri Azie! 9:00am - 3:00pm at StageCoach Theatre in Ashburn.

Elsa, Moana, Cinderella… the list goes on for classic and new age animated film favorites. This two-day camp brings the animated show magic to the stage. We will put together a fun, original cabaret performance of songs and movement using movie musicals as our inspiration! Join us whether you sing and move or belt and groove by yourself home alone. We will inspire your inner voice and give you a place to shine! A student showcase will follow the end of camp at 3pm, followed by an awards ceremony.

A minimum of 4 students is required to run any class. Maximum of 15 students.
$135 + $5.95 service fee

Jaclyn McLoughlin is teaching musical theatre and Shakespeare scenes this fall with StageCoach Theatre Company! Jackie recently returned to the US after working as a theater director throughout the London area. While in the UK, she founded and served as Executive Director of a company teaching Shakespearean performance to Service personnel for several years. She continues to miss all of her former actors to this day and considers herself fortunate to have worked with every one of them. Jackie holds an MA in Text & Performance Studies, Directing, from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

Addie Schafer is a 3rd grade teacher for Hillsboro Charter Academy in Loudoun County. She has performed and directed StageCoach shows for almost 5 years now, blooming her love for improvised, interactive theatre. She graduated from William and Mary with a B.A. in Theatre and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education with an emphasis on children’s literacy. She participated in a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship in Malaysia and enjoys both group as well as one-on-one coaching. Addie has stepped up as the educational coordinator as the StageCoach program has grown over the past year to a full year program. She is excited to see what is in store for SCTC! Ceri Gerrish Fogarty is a professional soprano and self-proclaimed “voice nerd” and has been an active singer and teacher in the DC metro for over 5 years. Ceri contributes to her community by working with the area’s up-and-coming singer/songwriters, contemporary vocalists and classical singers. Her passion for vocal pedagogy keeps Dr. Fogarty current with teaching trends and cutting-edge vocal science. Her commitment to vocal arts promotion in her community allows her students access to innovative and important performance opportunities.
As a performer, Ceri has captivated audiences through her portrayal of Adele in Strauss’s ​Die Fledermaus​, La Feé in Massenet’s ​Cendrillon,​ Laetitia in Menotti’s ​The Old Maid and the Thief and Gretel in Humperdinck’s ​Hansel und Gretel​. Dr. Fogarty is a fierce competitor, with her most recent win at the Bach-Handel Festival Competition sponsored by Shenandoah Conservatory. She has also enjoyed soloist opportunities performing with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, giving voice to Mendelsohn’s First Fairy in ​A Midsummer Night’s Dream​, op. 21/26. As a recitalist, Dr. Fogarty has had the pleasure of participating in a concert celebrating composer William Bolcom and his cabaret songs --which was accompanied by the composer himself. Dr. Fogarty continues to perform and collaborate in the Northern Virginia music community. Dr. Ceri Gerrish Fogarty hails from rural New Mexico where she earned her bachelor degree in Music for Vocal performance at the University of New Mexico before moving to Boston, MA to complete her Master in Music at Boston University. She then completed her academic journey at Shenandoah Conservatory in Wi******er, Virginia with her Doctorate in Vocal Performance. Terri Azie has been a professional singer in the DC area since the 1980s as a soloist, in a ca****la groups, in community theater, and in many bands where she played keyboards, trumpet, and guitar. “Prior to teaching at StageCoach, I gave private voice lessons to students ages 11 – 14 through my own studio, TerriSings. I have been the vocal instructor and music director for Mill House Productions, producing Smarts Middle School musicals since 2012. Our musicals have won National Youth Arts Association awards for the past four years. I have a minor in music from Virginia Tech. When not playing music or giving voice lessons, I enjoy volunteering in my community and fostering rescue dogs.”

Ashly Townsend a soprano, is a graduate of James Madison University and Westminster Choir College. Mrs. Townsend sang in productions of Daphes, Chloe, and Damnation of Faust with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. While attending Westminster Choir College, Mrs. Townsend had the profound privilege of studying with vocal instructors/coaches such as Sally Wolf, Laura Brooks Rice, and J.J. Penna. Previously, Mrs. Townsend performed in productions of Die Fledermaus, Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, Anything Goes, and Wizard of Oz. In 2013, she performed as a guest soloist for the “Remembering Zachary Project”, a benefit concert in support of Marley’s Mission. In September 2014, Mrs. Townsend performed a newly composed work by Raymond Mueller titled Benedici. This piece was debuted at “The One I Feed” benefit supporting the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Most recently, Mrs. Townsend was featured in an originally composed opera titled A Lonely Heart. The libretto for this work was based on the life of Mary Shelley and her book Frankenstein. In addition to performing, Mrs. Townsend had the pleasure of teaching elementary general music for 8 years in Fairfax County Public Schools, where she enjoyed teaching grade level musicals, working on original compositions, and creating a “Glee” club for her 5th a 6th Grade students. John Waldron has been working as an actor, instructor, and director for almost 25 years. He received a BFA in Theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University. John has toured the country with several theatre companies. He has performed at The Kennedy Center, The National Theatre, Wolf Trap, Sibiu Romania, and New York. John has directed shows at Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre and Aldersgate Theatre. He formed the acting company The Past Time Prime Time Players at The Prince William County Senior Center. He is a member of the improvisational troupe The StageCoach Bandits with StageCoach Theatre Company. He can be seen in the film Talk To Me with Don Cheadle and on the Investigative Discovery channel.

Megan Kelly is a first grade teacher at Herndon Elementary. Previously she worked in a french immersion teaching program as a teacher as well. She has worked with Stagecoach for almost 5 years now in murder mysteries, cabarets and childrens’ shows with the company including “My Favorite Sings”, “Shake, Rattle and Roll 1950s Cabaret", and "1st Annual Naughty or Nice Christmas Cabaret": as of recent, and more. She is elated to start teaching multiple classes this fall. With her backgrounds in stage combat, improv, and more, she is a super fun dynamic teacher ready for ACTion! “My family got me into theater. My sister and mom are both involved in acting, teaching and directing. I went to Penn State, but wasn’t involved in theater, just teaching. I have worked with Sundial theatre, McLean Community players and StageCoach Theatre Company.”

Heather H. Lucas has over a decade of experience working in public and private educational settings throughout Montgomery County as a speech-language pathologist, teacher, coach, and parent educator, Heather has taught nearly every age and subject, has written and evaluated educational testing reports for students with special learning needs, and has participated in the IEP process to determine and implement appropriate learning accommodations for a variety of needs. She is very active in the DC young adult theater scene as a parent and volunteer, and also co-directed theater productions with oral deaf students in Richmond, VA and at the Kennedy Center Family Theater. Heather holds a bachelor's degree in Rhetoric from University of California, Berkeley and a master's in Speech and Hearing Sciences from University of Maryland, College Park. She is the vice president of the Advisory Committee for the Robert S. Peabody Institute of Archeology and is the director of the Patrons Board for The Free Theatre. Heather draws on her extensive experience working with teens and parents to help young visual and performing artists determine and achieve admission to the best programs to ensure they step confidently into their future. Jeff Cates has been performing consistently in StageCoach shows since October 2016. As a graduate of Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ, he is a professional working actor in the New York and Washington, DC acting circuit. He has appeared on television programs such as “A Crime to Remember” and “Madam Secretary,” and has recently accepted the role of Jack Frost in Kings Dominion WinterFest. He is incredibly excited and honored to be able to share what he has learned over the years, and looks forward to seeing what students can teach him as well. He will be teaching the acting class this fall and has helped with StageCoach summer camps previously coaching students in acting and auditioning.

Katie Hudson is currently the currently the musical director at Trailside Middle School. Katie Hudson graduated from Radford University with her Bachelor’s degree in Theatre with a focus in both Performance and Directing and performed in multiple main stage shows as well as directing studio shows such as "Bringing All Back Home", "Sight Unseen", and "Reckless". Katie has worked as a Stage Manager, Director of a Theatre Department, and as a Director of an After-School Program. She has enjoyed performing in StageCoach shows such as "Jingle in the Jungle", "Diamonds to Die For", "Holiday Magic", "Drunken Showtunes", and "My Favorite Sings". She also has enjoyed directing STC shows such as "The (Un)Lucky Leprechaun", "Puss in Boots", and "Drunken Showtunes". With a firm belief that everyone is a singer and everyone is an actor, Katie strives to find pieces that both fit the need of the individual student’s learning process and challenge them to take their skills to the next level yet give them the confidence they need to push them further.
