Colby Borum brings home another victory at the Acme Pinball Grand Prix!
Colby made it through qualifying with no strikes until the very last round. He evaded many strikes by very small percentage of points and likely a high percentage of luck. But the last round Charlie Herring was able to give him his first and only strike on Corvette.
The A finals started out with all the qualifying Kirchmeiers getting out right away, the first four eliminated were Cross, Skyla, Curtis, then Raddison. Not the best showing for the local team.
First timer Bobby Hitt had an impressive pinball debut, finishing 6th overall in a field of veteran players on fan favorite machine Twin Win. The upset of the night was Michael Y. L. Hew catching elimination on Super Soccer with a score of less than 10k.
Later in the final, Clark Barry McCoy came up short for 3rd place overall with a sub 2 mil score on the resident wood rail machine, Criss Cross,. He left the door open for a rematch between Charlie and Colby for 1st place on Legends of Valhalla. Charlie set a commendable score and Colby was looking like he was going to come up just short of the target. He played his 3rd ball in complete silence as the tension was felt by all spectators in the pin-shack. His ball was short, but after the bonus dust settled, he had bested Charlie by less than 200k - continuing his night of close calls. This gives Colby and Clark Both 2 wins, and with the drop system, they are technically tied for first in the overall standing for the race to the championship jacket.
Last night had a great turnout and we had 6 brand new players who had never competed in an IFPA event before! One of which, Duane Damon won our bottom bracket finals that Greg Gibson kindly officiated for us.
We also ran a B finals with the finals concluding with Jake Stacks just eeking out Sean Wedel for the win.
With 30 players, 100s of Chickfila nuggets, cookie cake, Dr Pepper Slushees, 5 new games in the lineup and so many new players, this was one of the best Acme Tournaments yet! Thanks for everyone coming out!
