That's why we're excited to have even more social dancing to LIVE MUSIC this year! Each night will have three (3) 35-60 minute Big Band sets, followed by DJ'ed dancing until 3am! Swing out to Danny Jonokuchi and the Revisionists (Fri) and the Eyal Vilner Big Band (Sat + Sun) in the evening, and then dance all night long to your DJs Ryan Swift, Felix Berghall, Helena Martins, and Remy Kouakou Kouame's favorite swing, soul, R&B, dancehall, and more tunes. 🌟 The ILHC Youth Program is back and bigger this year! Our goal at ILHC is to provide all youth the opportunity to learn Lindy Hop regardless of their financial, social or economic situation. Youth from disadvantaged areas and/or extremely economically challenged have the opportunity to be sponsored under our Youth Program. ILHC and the Black Lindy Hoppers Fund have committed funds to off-set expenses. The more community support, the more opportunity we can provide. We’re really excited to announce that the program will be over a month long! This will include zoom calls to meet each other and learn together, video classes that the juniors can take at any point, and one-on-one coaching! The program is FREE for youth 17 years of age and younger. Parents or Guardians must sign up and be responsible for each youth. Imagine it: you and your best dance friends at the Edison Ballroom in New York City, NY dancing all night in this gorgeous ballroom! It's a dream come true at ILHC 2022, May 26–30, 2022. Originally opened in the 1930’s as the Grand Ballroom of the adjacent Edison Hotel, it was constructed in a classic art deco motif and offered dining and dancing to its patrons. It featured many famous bands and singers from the Swing era. A generation later, the ballroom was converted to the Edison Theater, where various Broadway theatrical productions were offered including “Oh! Calcutta!” which ran for a record 13 years. And in 1991, the Edison Theater was converted to the famous Supper Club, which offered dinner and dancing to the music of many “big-band” style orchestras. What a weekend! First we’d like to say thank you to all dancers virtual and in-person for your support and enthusiasm this year. ILHC couldn’t happen without you ❤️ In case you missed it, we’re moving! In 2022, ILHC will be held in May and moving to the NYC area. There are many reasons for this change including celebrating Frankie Manning’s birthday, celebrating World Lindy Hoppers Day, and connecting back to the roots and history of the dance.
