What it is Groovy People. I’m involved with a nonprofit called Pickleberry Pie. We perform live concerts for seriously ill kids in hospitals — including broadcasting shows to kids who can’t even leave their rooms. We close a fundraiser Monday night. If you can give anything before midnight, go to the link provided here:

I AM, A TEACHING ARTIST!
Hey Groovy People, this is National Teaching Artist Month! Teaching Artists are small businesses embedded in our communities, and now more than ever do we need Teaching Artists in a multitude of educational capacities. We Teaching Artists come with varied or specific disciplines, and roll with top professionalism.

Interested in connecting and building a long-lasting business relationship with Teaching Artists in or around your community? I’m honored to be a part of Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic (TAMA). Check out these top-tier creatives from in and out of the DMV here: https://teachingartists.org/

In addition to individual work, I’ve also collaborated with skilled Teaching Artists at Educational Theatre Company. Learn more about ETC here: https://www.educationaltheatrecompany.org/
.and I’m a on the Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) Teaching Artist Roster: https://vca.virginia.gov/directory_type/teaching-artist/
Check out these wonderful DMV Teaching Artists, and learn more about VCA!

Whether working individually or occasionally with an arts organization, we Teaching Artists are available to offer another approach, style, and perspective to a classroom, PD workshop, and corporate setting. Let’s celebrate Teaching Artistry not just in May, but all the time. Check us out, dig us, and let’s work!

Peace to United Community Early Learning Center and Mount Eagle Elementary School for these photos.

Hey Groovy People. Whenever I bring the funky grooves and comedy to Johns Hopkins Hospital, young faces light up like the awakening of the morning’s brightness. As staff and parents walk down the hall, passing the room where I’m doing my thang, they pause for a moment to take in the positive vibes experienced by me and those within the performance space. When Pickleberry Pie brings Groovy Nate shows to Johns Hopkins Hospital, it is the light shining to all those experiencing the moment, and they see the good works.

This is why Pickleberry Pie has been showing up to hospitals since 1998. And this week, we’re raising $10,000 to keep it going:
