Thank you all who auditioned yesterday! You still have one more chance to come out!

📣Director Joh Mann for “The Witch in the Cell” has asked all who auditioned to return tonight.

📣For those who auditioned for “A Christmas Carol” if you are available to return please do; but if you are unavailable it will not affect casting.

📣If you did NOT make last nights audition for either show please do so tonight at 6:00! We would love to have you!

We have a place for ALL. If you have never done a show please let this be your first. It may ignite a light in you, you did not know was there!

AUDITIONS ARE COMING! 🎭

Spotlight Playhouse is excited to announce auditions for our upcoming productions!

📅 Audition Dates: September 8th and 9th
🎬 Shows: The Witch in the Cell and A Christmas Carol

If you’re interested in being part of either of these exciting productions, we would love to see you there!

✨ Please prepare a monologue that is under ONE MINUTE in length. ✨

Whether you’re a seasoned performer or stepping onto the stage for the first time, we encourage you to come audition and be part of the magic!

Do not feel discouraged if you have never auditioned with a monologue. Auditions for some rolls for “A Christmas Carol” will only require a few lines read.

In Loving Memory of Matthew Miller

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our beloved Spotlight Playhouse family members, Matthew Miller.

Matthew brought joy, laughter, and kindness wherever he went. He was a bright light in our theater family, and his smile and sweet spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. While words cannot express the depth of this loss, we know his memory will forever remain a part of Spotlight Playhouse.

Please keep Matthew’s family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this heartbreaking time. He was truly an angel on earth.

Synopsis:

Strange things begin to occur when a new patient arrives at an institute for the insane. Set in early 1900's The Witch in the Cell tells the story of Esther a young girl who works at the institute helping her aunt in the kitchen. Little Esther is the sole survivor of a fire and she struggles to adjust to her tragic new life. Little does she realize the answer will come from a mysterious isolated new patient. Meanwhile the other patients are concerned about missing residents about which the staff seem to be curiously unconcerned. Young Esther must overcome her fears to save her aunt and friends from the ominous problems plaguing the residents at the institution.

🎭 Auditions: September 8 & 9, 2026 (to be announced)

🎭 Performance Dates: 3rd Week of October 2026 at the The Goddard Center.

Cast of Characters

Esther: 9 years old, niece of Minnie, any race but preferably African American

Minnie: 30 years old, aunt of Esther, any race but preferably African American, is the
cook for the institution

Tess: 12 years old, daughter of Minnie, any race but preferably African American

Ruth: 40 years old, any race but preferably African American, in charge of the cell
block of the institution

Dr Mitchell: 60-70 years old, white male, runs the institution

Dr Ryan: 50-60 years old, white male, member of the Board of Regents for the institution

Nurse Isabelle: 40-50 years old, white female, head nurse of the institution

Dr. Emil: 20-25 years old, fresh out of medical school, works for the institution

Orderly Drake: 20-25 years old, big, and hulky, works for the institution.

Orderly Chance: 20’s-30’s years old, works for the institution.

Regina: 20’s-30’s any race, patient of the institution.

Anna: 20’s-30’s any race, preferably Native American, patient of the institution.

Lil: Late teens, early 20’s any race, patient of the institution.
