🏇 GRAND INDIAN — AKA “THE MOOSE” 🫎
We’re excited to have Grand Indian making his debut this Saturday at Del Mar, Race 5!
Around the barn, we call him “The Moose” — and for good reason. This is one BIG two-year-old, standing over 17 hands, but for a horse his size, he moves like a cat. He’s athletic, light on his feet, and looks like a c**t who will really appreciate stretching out around two turns as he develops.
Grand Indian is a homebred for Mercedes and Moody Creek, and I’m really excited that I was able to convince Mercedes to keep him last year. He’s always been an impressive-looking horse, and everything he’s shown us lately makes us believe he has a very bright future.
His last two works have been outstanding — five-eighths in 59 and change, followed by a 47-second gate work in company, where he looked to be doing it the better of the two. He’s still a big, developing two-year-old and should continue to improve with racing and more distance.
A huge thank you to Gabino and everyone at Moody Creek for breaking him and giving him such a great start, and to everyone at Burlson Farm in Kentucky for doing such a tremendous job raising him.
Now it’s time to let The Moose loose! 🫎🏇💨
Follow along Saturday at Del Mar and wish Grand Indian and the entire team good luck! 🍀
