I am so excited to finally share something that has been growing behind the scenes…

For the past few months, I’ve been quietly building something that brings together so many things I love—making art, teaching art, creating with other people, and helping people discover that they’re more creative than they think they are.

Meet The Amber Porch Creative Studio.

The name comes from one of my favorite places—my back porch. It’s where I sit with a cup of tea, watch sunsets and storms roll through, listen to the birds and crickets, and slow down for a little while. Somehow, I almost always leave feeling a little different than when I sat down—calmer, clearer, reset.
And somewhere along the way, I started thinking…
What if creativity could feel like that, too?
After years of making and teaching art, I truly believe creativity belongs to everyone—not just people who consider themselves “artists.” That’s what I want The Amber Porch to be. A place to try something new. To experiment. To make something with your own hands. To connect with other people. And maybe even discover a creative part of yourself you didn’t know was there.

There will be creative workshops, paint parties, art kits, original artwork, hand-painted pieces and plenty more as this little idea continues to grow.

And I’m so excited to finally stop keeping it to myself and invite all of you along.

Harper’s Ferry is where history and nature meet in perfect harmony. Nestled between two rivers, its colorful streets, timeless buildings, and peaceful landscapes invite you to wander a little slower.

As an artist, it felt like walking through a painting—every corner another composition, every view another palette of color waiting to be captured.

The most beautiful places don’t just fill your camera roll. They fill your imagination.

Some places don’t just become memories—they become part of the way you see the world. Three years later, I can still picture the red geraniums spilling over the bridge, the quiet canals, and the charm tucked into every corner of Amsterdam. Moments like these have a way of finding their way back into my art.

That moment when the blank white canvas feels too perfect to touch 😬.

I get stuck there more often than I’d like to admit.

So here’s what helps me:
• recycled cardboard
• underpainting
• old canvases I never finished

Anything to break the spell of “perfect” and give myself permission to just…start!!!

If you’ve been frozen in front of a blank "perfect" surface, this is your sign to mess it up on purpose. 🎨✨

This watercolor was painted with so much love in honor of my mother-n-law Kay. Kay’s March birth flowers felt like the perfect way to honor who she was — a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and a steady, loving presence to everyone lucky enough to know her. Every petal felt meaningful as I painted it, thinking about her kindness, her strength, and the way she showed up for her family.

Creating this piece for my sister-in-law was truly an honor, and one of those moments where art becomes more than just paint on paper.

Forever grateful for the chance to turn love and memory into something lasting.
