🎨✨ What Are You Really Paying for When You Hire a Professional Face Painter? ✨🎨
When you book a professional face painter for a 2-hour party or event, it may look like you’re simply paying for two hours of painting.
But there’s so much more happening behind the scenes. 💜
Here’s a little peek inside my Color Carnival Co. setup. My kit contains over $1,500 worth of professional-grade face paints, brushes, split cakes, sponges, glitters, gems, stencils, sanitation products and other supplies — all carefully selected to help me provide a safe, professional and beautiful experience.
But the investment doesn’t stop with the supplies.
🎨 Hundreds of hours of practice go into learning brush control, techniques, color combinations and new designs. A design that takes me only a few minutes to paint at your event may have been practiced over and over again to get it to that point.
🖌️ Speed AND quality are skills. Professional face painters practice not only to create beautiful work, but to create it efficiently so more children can be painted without sacrificing the quality of their experience.
🧼 Cleaning and sanitation continue long after the party ends. Brushes need to be thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and reshaped. Supplies and equipment need to be cleaned, sponges laundered, towels washed, and the entire kit reorganized and prepared for the next event.
✨ There’s constant restocking and maintenance. Paints, sponges, glitter, gems, sanitation products and other consumable supplies have to be replaced, while brushes and equipment eventually wear out and need replacing too.
🛡️ You’re hiring a professional business. That means things like insurance, professional equipment, quality products, booking systems and all of the other expenses involved in operating a legitimate business.
👧 You’re also paying for experience working with children. Sometimes that means painting a perfectly still 10-year-old…and sometimes it means painting a wiggly 3-year-old who changes their mind halfway through. 😂 It means knowing how to make nervous kiddos comfortable, interact with different personalities, keep the line moving and make each child feel like their turn in the chair is special.
🌈 You’re paying for creativity. One of my favorite things is when a child asks me for something completely unique that isn’t on my menu. Being able to take their idea and create something especially for them is part of the magic.
🚗 And then there are all the hours you don’t see: planning, practicing, shopping, restocking, customizing menus, packing the kit, loading the car, traveling, setting up, painting, breaking everything down, driving home, unloading…and then cleaning everything so we can do it all over again.
So while you may book a professional face painter for two hours, those two hours represent many more hours of preparation, education, practice and cleanup.
And ultimately, you aren’t just paying for paint on a face.
💕 You’re paying for an experience.
For those few minutes in my chair, a child gets to tell me what they want to become, watch their idea come to life and then have that wonderful moment when they look in the mirror and see the finished design. 🥹✨
The paint may wash off at the end of the day, but hopefully the smile, the pictures and the memory last much longer.
That’s why I’m proud to continually invest in professional products, my equipment and my craft.
When you book Color Carnival Co., my goal isn’t simply to paint faces — it’s to provide a safe, professional, creative and memorable experience from the moment I arrive until the last brush is cleaned. 🎨💜
