I just read a bunch of comments about people upset with The Michigan Theater Foundation changing their name to Marquee Arts. Firstly, 18% of everyone upset didn't even know the name of the foundation before reading their post. The MTF acquired the State Theatre in 2014, remodeled it for two years, and then covid. Now is when you roll this out. It makes zero sense to have your name be The Michigan Theater Foundation and have your event at the State Theatre. That is confusing and ridiculous to explain to everyone just trying to see a show. Want to buy a movie ticket to the State Theatre??? Just go to the Michigan Theater website! The names of the venues remain the same. This is 10000000% the right choice, and we are so lucky to have Cinetopa, Ann Arbor Film Festival, two incredible rooms to see movies, a barton $% # organ, a diverse community space that supports the arts, the best popcorn ever, and a 1,700 cap room for live music. I understand being upset, but there is zero reason to be upset. Let's be happy. Let's support these incredible rooms because there are not many left and we are so lucky. Congratulations to the entire Marquee Arts staff! I appreciate your hard work for our community.
