We are a 4-part a ca****la chorus based out of Angola, IN.

🎶 Every woman on these risers started somewhere. 🎶

None of us walked through the door already knowing how to sing barbershop harmony. We were all the "new girl" at one time. We were nervous. We wondered if we'd fit in. We questioned whether we could really do it.

And then we discovered something amazing.

Now it's your turn.

A Ca****la Magic Chorus is celebrating 40 years of harmony as part of Sing United International (formerly Sweet Adelines International), and we're looking for women who would like to experience the joy of singing 4-part a ca****la music in the barbershop style.

If you've never heard ringing chords before, prepare yourself. There's nothing quite like it. The moment four voices lock together and create a sound bigger than any one singer, you'll understand why we're so passionate about this music.

We proudly represent Great Lakes Harmony Region 17 and rehearse every Monday evening at 6:00 PM at Fairview Missionary Church in Angola, Indiana under the direction of Betsy Fowler, music educator at Fremont High School.

Will it be a little scary the first time? Probably.

Could it also become one of the greatest adventures of your life? Absolutely.

A Ca****la Magic has officially returned from Erie, Pennsylvania where we took the stage as superheroes… and left with our capes flying high. 🦸‍♀️🎶

Did we bring home shiny awards? No.
Did we improve our score and hit one of our biggest goals? ABSOLUTELY. 💥

There were smiling faces everywhere, incredible chorus performances, amazing quartets, and enough hairspray in the convention center to qualify as a weather event. We are especially proud of Note To Self Quartet for their outstanding accomplishments this weekend. They knocked it out of the park and we loved cheering them on every step of the way! ❤️

Huge shout out to Pride of Toledo chorus for not only coming in 1st place small chorus BUT they placed 3rd overall! Congratulations on a big, impressive win!

Now… after a very long drive home and a weekend full of adrenaline, sequins, late-night snacks, and “just one more rehearsal run-through,” we are declaring TONIGHT a superhero recovery night. 🛋️

🚨 NO rehearsal tonight! 🚨

If you planned to visit us, please come next week instead! And yes, we WILL rehearse on Memorial Monday at 6 pm at Fairview Missionary Church in Angola.

Until then, our aging superheroes will be recharging our powers… mostly with naps and ibuprofen. 🦸‍♀️😂

Competition Day is HERE! 🎶💥

The ladies of A Ca****la Magic begin the day bright and early with rehearsal at 8am… because apparently vocal cords enjoy mornings even if the rest of us do not. ☕😴

Then it’s a mad dash back to our rooms for makeup, hair, and costumes as we transform into this year’s theme: Aging Superheroes! From Power Rangers to Poison Ivy and heroes in between, we are ready to save the world… assuming nobody throws out a hip during choreography. 🦸‍♀️😂

We have the honor (and mild terror) of being Contestant #1 this year! After a nerve-packed six minutes on stage, we get to sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the competition while our blood pressure slowly returns to normal.

So please be thinking of us around NOON today as we strut and/or limp onto the stage. We ARE aging superheroes, after all. We don’t fly quite as straight as we used to. 😆

We have WINNERS! 🎉

Here’s Jennie proudly modeling her brand new A Ca****la Magic embroidered hoodie — perfect for staying warm in overly air-conditioned rehearsal spaces and hiding from surprise vocal warmups. 😄

Meanwhile, Elaine will soon be cruising Alaska with her shiny new Sweet Adelines license plate while cooking up something delicious from her chorus cookbook that’s currently making the long trek north. 🍴❄️

A huge THANK YOU to these ladies and to everyone supporting us on this fundraising adventure. Every week we’ve gotten closer and closer to our goal, and we’re not done yet!

It’s quartet time! 🎶🔥

Please help us cheer on Note To Self Quartet as they take the stage Friday afternoon as Contestant #9 at 5pm!

We are SO proud of Betsy, Cindy, Gabby, and Richele — four women who have poured countless hours into rehearsals, coaching sessions, learning notes in the car, singing parts in the shower, and probably waking up at 3am wondering, “Was that entrance flat?” 😆

This powerhouse quartet has worked incredibly hard all year, and now it’s their moment to shine under those bright contest lights (which are very forgiving and definitely don’t highlight glitter fallout or stress sweat at all). ✨😂

Ladies, we hope you have an AMAZING contest experience this year. Sing your hearts out, trust your craft, and remember: the audience is rooting for you even if your eyelashes are trying to escape the glue.

Guest coaching isn’t cheap. Music costs money. Learning tracks don’t magically appear out of thin air (although that would be amazing). Every bit we raise helps keep our chorus singing strong all year long.
