Andover Huskies Football had their annual Kick-Off Night festivities last week. Several vendors were on hand, as Several hundred youth football players joined the high school program to celebrate the start of their seasons. Over 250 kids out this year for flag football alone! Was great to see old faces, and many new faces as well. Looking forward to a fun football season!

Hometown Hockey Minnesota kicked off their fall mite league last week. The league is made up four teams of skaters from several local hockey associations. They'll be skating every Tuesday in September at Andover Community Center, with Semifinals, and third-place/championship games at the end of the month. I'll be catching them at least a couple more times. Come on out, and check out some future hockey legends!

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of spending time with Hometown Hockey Minnesota at their annual Summer Classic.

With it being the 250th anniversary of our country, this year's theme was "Military Appreciation." Family members of players that served, or are currently serving, were recognized, and a ceremonial color guard was on hand for the National Anthem.

Every single year, I hear the same thing from several families involved: this is their favorite weekend of the summer. Laura, Bernie, and Jeff at Hometown have cultivated an event that accentuates community, inclusion, competitive nature, and sportsmanship. If you have a kid in hockey, please consider Hometown Hockey Minnesota as a AAA program to develop their skills and character.
