All-Terrain Imagery

All-Terrain Imagery Hello! I'm Michael. Welcome to All-Terrain Imagery's page. I also really started backcountry backpacking in 2010. I do post-process with varying severity.

I have always loved the outdoors and taking pictures but I didn’t really make the connection between the two until 2010. I started working with post-processing in 2012 and never looked back. I began to do more and more with my photos and learning how to re-create where I had been and what I had seen. I was continually encouraged by my friends to offer my work to the general public but never felt i

t was on par with work I had seen. During the Summer of 2014 a friend of mine had a print made from one of my photos that turned out great. Another friend basically told me I was going to display some photos in his Nashville, TN gallery that November. As the prints started arriving, I began to get more and more excited to offer my work to the public. I work on a photo until I feel like it gives a real sense of what it was like to be in the place, not necessarily what the place “looked like.” When you reach the summit or turn the corner in a canyon, adrenaline can change the way we see things. Grandeur is redefined, colors are seen like never before imagined; perspectives, perception, and lives can be totally altered. I try to bring that out of my images so that people can really understand what it’s like to be there. Some folks may think some images are “over the top” but phrases like that could also be used to describe the sensation I feel in these places.

Looking across Turnagain Arm in Chugach State Park. Seeing everything frozen was amazing. It was quite windy and difficult to photograph but I managed several decent shots. This was the first one I processed.

This was taken in Bryce Canyon. I found Bryce very difficult to photograph due to the harsh sun and crazy shadows but that made it very interesting as well.

This was our first morning at the Tetons. We were in a bit of a hurry to pack up and I missed the best sunrise God has ever set before me. We all saw it so that's what really matters but I wish I had been able to capture it.

This was taken in Alaska Basin. The glow on the rocks was so neat because the rocks weren't even wet. They have a crystal-like composition so the light makes them very shiny.

I had just gotten my camera set-up and composed my shot when I walked a few feet to my truck for my remote, when I turned around, I saw this. The sky went from just pretty to this in a matter of seconds. I started shooting immediately and got several compositions before it started fading.

This is the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio. This is a great place to sit and relax a few minutes during the day and it's gorgeous at night as well. It's right on the river.

The sign says it all. This spot is relatively easy to get to. The view of the canyon from this spot is greater than 180 degrees.

The contrast between the red rock areas and the "normal" rock areas is stunning.

When the Canyon peeked through the clouds, it was time to shoot. I just happened to be peeking through the trees here.
