QLab 5 Training - A Technical Theatre Deep-Dive with Seth!

When: Monday - Wednesday, April 6-8 at 6pm - 8pm

Please let us know if you are able to provide your own Mac computer running macOS Big Sur (version 11) or later.

This workshop is FREE to attend, generously supported by a grant from Alaska State Council on the Arts

This 3-day intensive course on QLab seeks to provide participants with experience in using one of the most widely employed show control platforms in theater, live events, and multimedia performance. Students will learn how to design, program, and operate cues for audio, video/projection, and lighting using QLab’s powerful cue-based workflow. Through hands-on exercises and demonstrations, the course covers core concepts such as cue creation, timing and triggering, workspace organization, and basic troubleshooting. It will also touch on how QLab interfaces with other physical consoles in your tech booth (signal flow and patching). By the end of the training, participants gain the practical skills and confidence needed to build and run simple QLab show files and integrate the software into live performance environments.

Playwrighting Workshop with Julia Lederer, “With Love and a Major Organ” playwright!

Date: Saturday, March 28, 11am - 2pm

This workshop is FREE to attend, generously supported by a grant from Alaska State Council on the Arts

“Writing with Curiosity, Theatricality, and from the Heart.” This is for playwrights of all levels. She’ll talk about playwriting skills, different ways to approach the writing process, and to generate ideas. Other topics include developing characters, finding your unique voice, and writing that is innately theatrical. The workshop will also touch on adaptation from theatre to film and the differences in writing for each medium.

Why is it that we are ever more connected and yet we have never felt more alone?

In an act of courage and rash emotion, Anabel gives her heart to a stranger she meets on the subway. He disappears with it, and she needs to get it back. George is now on the run but getting distracted by romantic comedies and feelings he's never had before. Mona is online speed-dating and seeking therapy from GoogleShrink to feel more connected to the real world. Then a stranger appears on her doorstep in search of a missing heart.

Romantic, funny, and wildly original, WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN is a quirky modern-day fable, a unique exploration of love in the age of technology.
