It was quite an experience to be on the panel with the world class mixers / engineers including Bob Clearmountain, Ryan Ulyate, CLA at the NAMM show.

EMEL is an exceptional musical artist from Switzerland and one of my favorite female artists I've ever worked with, love her voice and presence, delivery of her performances and above all she's a wonderful human being. One of the tracks on this album I mixed " Thinking About You " was mixed from Logic on Yamaha O2R to TC Electronics' Finalizer to Alesis Masterlink many years ago, became one of my favorite tracks. Listen to the track, you may like it!

This Jazz Vocal album project happened pretty spontaneously.
Chie and I were recording this one together about just one month after first met.
The album is a collection of some previously recorded tracks and new recordings this time.
The new tracks were recorded live with a piano with a lot of leakage, so that there's no individual timing nor pitch corrections. The vocal was tracked with Mojave Audio MA1000 via Manley All Tube Dual-Pre to Variable Mu Compressor.
All the tracks were mixed in Sonic Lodge Studios in Los Angeles after the recordings were completed in Japan.

このジャズ・ヴォーカルのアルバムは、かなり突発的なプロジェクトで、チエさんと初めて会った一ヶ月後くらいには、一緒にスタジオで録音していました。
以前に録音された音源と今回、新しく録音する音源で構成されたアルバムで、新録は、ピアノの演奏と同時録音で、歌とピアノの間での音のカブリも多い為、録音後のタイミングや音程の修正は一切されていません。ちなみに、ヴォーカルは、Mojave AudioのMA1000に、いつものManleyのチューブのDual-PreからMariable Muコンプを通して録音されています。
東京での録音完了後は、ロサンゼルスのソニック・ロッジ．スタジオで全曲のミキシングが行われました。

CONVERSATION

It was an absolutely great experience to work with those extraordinary musicians, that I had already known, on this record.
We stated off basic live tracking with Herman Mathews on drums, Dwayne "Smithy" Smith on bass, Kay-ta Matsuno on guitar and Nick Milo on Keyboard. I brought all my tools to cut the tracks and they came out just right. Then we moved to the horn session with Lee Thornburg, Greg Adams, Greg Vail, Johnnie Bamont. My all Royer's ribbon mic did great job on it. Then the string session went wonderfully with my unique method that I 've been using for years, At last but not least, Daryl Walker totally nailed the vocal tracks effortlessly. I missed record projects like that since I'm mostly getting mixing project which I love but it's different.
Thank you Greg Adams for this wonderful opportunity to make this real record with you and your band!

この作品で卓越したミュージシャン（古い友人も含め）たちと仕事をするのは、本当に素晴らしい経験でした。
Herman Mathews (Drm)、Dwayne "Smithy" Smith (Bass), Kay-ta Matsuno (Gtr) そして Nick Milo (Key)によるリズム録りでは、多くの自分自身の機材を持ち込み、予想通りの結果が出せました。その後の、Lee Thornburg、Greg Adams、 Greg Vail、Johnnie Bamontによるホーン・ダビングでは、信頼のRoyer Labのリボン・マイクが大きな力となってくれました。また、ストリングスの録音では、ここ何年間も続けている拘りの手法が功を奏しました。最後であり、とても重要なボーカル・ダビングでは、難なく Daryl Walkerが、本当に魅力的な歌を披露して短時間で終えてくれました。
最近の依頼の多くがミキシング（もちろん大好きですが）なので、こういう形態でのレコードの録音作業は、別の意味で本当に貴重で楽しく感じられます。
本人と彼自身のバンド・メンバーによるこの拘りのレコードを録音する素晴らしい機会を与えてくれた Greg Adams 氏に心から感謝します。

It was Shuji Yamagiri who brought this fantastic project for us to work on about a year ago and asked me to oversee the project. We planned it carefully and went on a crowd funding then reached to117% successful with your kindness. We spent so much time in the studios, painstakingly craft this CD alongside with another member Kaori Kawabuchi who has surprisingly grown dramatically as a singer during the sessions.
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on this CD project and I thank every one of each of you on this project so much!

光栄にもプロデュースさせて頂きました。
1年程前に、この素晴らしいプロジェクトを立案したバンドリーダーであるShuji Yamagiriから、プロジェクトを任せたいと相談を受けました。我々は綿密に計画をし、クラウド・ファンディングの結果は、みなさんのお陰で、117%にまで到達しました。 このCDを作り上げるのに多くの時間をスタジオで過ごしましたが、中でも、もう一人のメンバーであるKaori Kawabuchiのレコーディング期間での歌手としての劇的な飛躍は眼を見張るものがありました。
