Welcome Alfred Sergel IV to the Ludwig artist roster.

A drummer, composer, and educator based in North Carolina, Alfred has shared the stage with Grammy Award-winning artists and recorded on numerous Billboard-charting albums.

His original music has been recognized by NPR Music and JAZZIZ Magazine, with releases reaching the Top 200 on the jazz charts. His latest release, The Falling Out, features Grammy Award-winning bassist Tim Lefebvre and Grammy-nominated pianist Martin Bejerano.

Alfred also performs regularly with Jason Upton, John Mark McMillan, Jonathan & Melissa Helser, River Shook, and Shana Tucker.

Beyond the stage, he is the founder and lead instructor at The Charlotte Drum Collective and serves on adjunct faculty at Appalachian State University, Davidson College, Queens University of Charlotte, and Central Piedmont Community College.

We’re excited to officially welcome Alfred to the Ludwig artist roster.

We’re excited to officially welcome JJ Johnson to the Ludwig artist roster!

A powerhouse behind the kit with an unmistakable feel, JJ has built an incredible career as one of the most respected drummers in modern music. Coming up through the rich musical scene of Austin, Texas, his versatility, deep pocket, and dynamic playing have made him a sought-after musician across blues, rock, soul, and beyond.

His impressive credits include John Mayer, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lenny Kravitz, Doyle Bramhall II, Boz Scaggs, and Sugarland.

Currently holding down the groove for Gary Clark Jr., JJ brings a remarkable balance of finesse, musicality, and raw power to every performance.

We couldn’t be happier to have JJ behind Ludwig drums and officially welcome him to the roster.

Bold Tone. Vivid Color.

Introducing Vistalite Teal.

This rich blue-green acrylic finish brings a fresh look to one of the most recognizable drum designs in music. The transparent shells catch and shift with the light, giving Teal depth and presence while staying unmistakably Vistalite.

The lineup is expanding too, with new sizes and configurations now available alongside the standard Vistalite finishes.

Ludwig artist Yoyoka Soma （よよか）puts Teal in motion.

After 16 years with Ludwig, Don Taylor is heading into retirement.

A longtime member of our Monroe woodshop team, Don spent much of his time running the saw and maintaining the panel room, along with molding shells and stepping into plenty of other roles throughout the shop over the years.

To mark his retirement, Don received a one-of-a-kind Classic Maple Exotic snare featuring a custom dual-wood exterior of Birdseye Maple and Bubinga, laid up by Don himself. Finished with 8-lug tube lugs and brass hardware, it’s a fitting piece to celebrate a career spent building Ludwig drums.

Thank you, Don, for 16 years of hard work, craftsmanship, and everything you’ve contributed to Ludwig.

Enjoy retirement. You’ve earned it.

We’re pleased to welcome Jay Weinberg to the Ludwig artist roster.

Since 2009, Jay Weinberg has established himself as a household name — the rhythmic backbone and driving force for some of rock and metal’s most iconic and genre-defining artists: Slipknot, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, and Suicidal Tendencies, to name a few.

A four-time GRAMMY Nominee, and the recipient of numerous recognitions from Modern Drummer, Drumeo, and MusicRadar / Rhythm as “Metal Drummer of the Year,” Jay’s independent career as a free agent has most recently seen the release of the critically-acclaimed Fuming Mouth album “The Ringing Bell,” his first musical releases under his own name, and drum clinics around the globe.

Jay is nominated for Modern Drummer’s 2026 Punk & Alternative Drummer of the Year, and will headline the UK Drum Show on October 24th as his first official performance as a Ludwig artist.
