CHALK TALK is here! 🎤✨
Every month, we invite guests from all corners of the dance world into the studio to sit down with our competition teams. From retired dancers and working professionals to dancers thriving in other communities like college teams, pro cheer, commercial work, and beyond, each guest brings a fresh perspective on what a life in dance/arts can look like.
Our dancers get to ask questions, hear real stories, and see firsthand how the discipline, confidence, and teamwork they build at DP can carry them onto new stages and into every part of life.
This month, we’re thrilled to welcome…
RAQUEL ORTIZ✨
My dance journey began at just 5 years old, and dance has been a huge part of my life ever since. I grew up dancing with Dance Precisions and continued on to Mt. San Antonio College, where I danced on the nationally ranked pep squad, earning 1st place in both Jazz and Hip Hop, while also being part of the Repertory Program.
After college, I danced professionally as a Laker Girl for two seasons and then for the Los Angeles Rams for two seasons, serving as captain during my second season. Throughout my professional career, I continued to train, grow, and teach, always finding new ways to share my love for dance.
Today, I’ve taken the skills I learned through dance, performance, leadership, and teamwork and brought them into my career in marketing and communications. I currently work for a paint protection film company, where I get to put my creativity to work through marketing, social media, and content.
Outside of work and dance, I’m a wife and proud mom of three boys, who keep me on my toes in the best way possible! ❤️
Full circle moment! 💛
This week, Raquel came back to sit with our competition teams as our CHALK TALK guest, sharing her journey from college nationals to the Laker Girls to captain of the LA Rams, and the life lessons dance gave her along the way. ✨
To our dancers: this could be you one day. Keep showing up, keep working hard, and keep dreaming big. 🙌
Thank you, Raquel, for reminding us all where dance can take you!
