Maligrad: Croatian for small town, is a performing dance company which begins foremost as an interwoven community of artists, underpinned by the coexisting of energies and necessity of each and every person involved. Maligrad stands for a living, breathing entity, one that is influenced by the environment, each other and has an acute sensitivity to the cause and effect

potential we have as people, and as artists. Maligrad is directed by Molly Fletcher Lynch. She holds an MA in contemporary dance from the London Contemporary Dance School and her work has toured through California, England, Spain, Italy, Greece and Croatia. Maligrad Contemporary Dance creates work stemming from a creative process founded in research, investigation and inquiry. Maligrad's unique aesthetic tends toward the highly physical while delicately stringing together a conceptual framework, delivered through a carefully articulated movement vocabulary and authentic performance state of each and every performer. Maligrad has company artists in both Europe and San Fransico. The purpose is to broaden our artistic view on the world and further push the boundaries what community means and how work is made. The company maintains a strong relationship with artistic partners in Europe through frequent EU tours and cross cultural collaborations.

We will wholeheartedly explore concepts of physical expansion, depth, and yielding through intricate and physically challenging phrases intended to challenge the invested dancer. Live percussion will energize and inspire while providing a musically rich environment to deepen one's existing contemporary practice. Open minds, laughter, and rigor encouraged. Intermediate/advanced, however, all curious dancers are encouraged and warmly welcomed."
