✨ WORK IN PROGRESS ✨

A lot of people only see the finished product, but this is where the magic starts.

This new handbag is currently in the mock-up and assembly stage, inspired by the timeless Hermes Kelly silhouette and handcrafted from embossed gator-pattern leather in a beautiful seafoam turquoise. The hardware is being fitted, the structure is taking shape, and there’s still plenty of stitching, edge work, finishing, and detailing ahead before she’s ready for her debut.

Building quality leather goods isn’t fast. Every cut, hole, stitch, and edge is done by hand, and watching a pile of leather slowly become a functional piece of art is one of my favorite parts of the process.

I’m excited to see this one come together. Stay tuned for updates as this build progresses from rough assembly to finished handbag.

Funny how life works.

Not long ago, I was filling out paperwork and hoping to earn my Veteran-Owned Business certification through the Texas Veterans Commission. Today, I found myself sitting across from their booth at a community event, representing Prairie Hyde and connecting with fellow veterans and supporters.

Moments like this are a reminder that progress happens one step at a time. One form. One idea. One product. One conversation.

Grateful for organizations that support veteran entrepreneurs and proud to be building something with my own two hands. Thank you to the Texas Veterans Commission for helping veterans turn their next chapter into reality.

Can’t wait to see these finished.

Taking a pair of $3 thrift-store shorts and turning them into something nobody else will have. Hand-tooled leather pocket overlays featuring cards, dice, flowers, and a classic skull design.

Every cut is done by hand. Every stamp mark is one strike at a time. No lasers. No machines. Just leather, steel, and a little imagination.

Thinking these are destined for a pair of black cut-off hoochie shorts and a summer concert somewhere in Texas. 🤠

Still have beveling, shading, antique finish, and stitching to go, but they’re already starting to tell a story.

Been a little quiet on here lately… and that’s usually a good sign.

Prairie Hyde has been buried in custom private orders — late nights, tooling leather, testing patterns, fixing mistakes, and chasing that “damn… that’s nice” finish.

A few pieces leaving the bench soon.
Not mass produced. Not factory perfect. Just handcrafted character with a little western attitude stitched into it.

The details matter.
The edges matter.
The feel in your hand matters.

Some of the best moments today at the Shamrock St. Patrick’s Ranch Rodeo weren’t in the arena — they were right here at the Prairie Hyde booth.

Getting to watch families sit down together and stamp their own piece of leather was pretty special. This young cowboy designed his own lucky leather tag with a little help from mom.

Handmade leather is about more than the finished product — it’s about the craft, the tradition, and passing it on to the next generation.
