I’m starting to realize a lot of people want open borders because it feels nice, not because it makes sense.
I was sitting in my truck the other day.
It was early. very early. Typical morning under the moon in west texas.
Phone propped up on the dash.
Engine just humming.
The glow from the screen lighting up an empty lease road.
I had just posted about the border again the night before
About sending people back if they come here illegally.
About putting Americans first.
The comments started rolling in.
“Heartless.”
“Un-Christian.”
“You must h•te brown people.”
“How can you be a Christian and say this?”
I just sat there, staring at my phone.
My work boots were still covered in dirt
My lunchbox was tossed on the passenger seat.
My kids pics were clipped to the visor, swinging while the truck idled.
And I thought…
These people really think life is supposed to be run on feelings.
They don’t see the dad who works 12–14 hours and still comes home tired, but thankful his kids sleep in a safe house.
They don’t see the wife who jumps every time the doorbell rings, because she’s seen the news and knows evil is real.
Online they tell me,
“If you were a real Christian, you’d want the border wide open.”
“If you had a heart, you’d let everyone in.”
I read those comments and feel that little sting.
Because no matter how tough you think you are, it still hits when strangers question your faith and your love for your own kids.
But here’s the truth sitting in my chest:
Life ain’t about feelings.
Life has rules.
God has rules.
A home has rules.
A country has rules.
You don’t let a random stranger walk into your house at 2 a.m.
Kiss your kids on the forehead.
Eat your groceries.
Then call yourself “loving” because you didn’t say no.
You’d lock the door.
You’d protect your family.
You’d do whatever it takes.
You don’t see that when I talk about the border, I’m not thinking about “likes.”
I’m thinking about my daughter getting older.
I’m thinking about my sons driving at night on highways full of drugs and trafficking.
You didn’t see the nights I stayed up reading stories of Americans hurt or k•lled by people who never should’ve been here in the first place.
You didn’t see the news playing in the background while I’m packing my lunch, hearing about another kid overd•sing on f•ntanyl.
What you don’t see behind that one “border post” is all the math I’m doing in my head as a dad.
Bills.
Groceries.
Taxes.
How much we already give, while our veterans sleep under bridges and our own people are barely making rent.
You don’t see me at the gas station, looking around at the folks standing outside, thinking,
“We can’t even take care of our own as it is.”
Yet online, if you dare say “America first,” they act like you signed up for some h•te group.
But here’s what I know:
Love without order ends up hurting the very people you claim to care about.
A borderless country won’t be a country for long.
The Bible talks about gates.
Walls.
Cities with watchmen.
Even heaven has gates and a book of names.
You don’t just walk in because it “feels right.”
So when I say I want the border secured, I’m not saying I hate anybody.
I’m saying I love my family more than I love being called “nice” online.
I love my country more than I love fitting in with people who would throw it away for a pat on the back.
Feelings change by the hour.
Truth doesn’t.
The truth is, a nation without a border is just land.
The truth is, if we don’t stand for law and order now, our kids will pay for our weakness later.
The truth is, being a Christian doesn’t mean I turn my brain off and let emotions run my house, my truck, or my vote.
I can pray for people, care about people, and still say,
“If you want to live here, do it the right way.”
So yeah, call me harsh if you want.
Say I’m cold.
Say I’m not “loving” enough.
I’ll still lock my doors.
I’ll still protect my kids.
And I’ll still fight for a border that actually means something.
Because life ain’t about feelings.
It’s about responsibility.
Maybe you’re tired of being called heartless for wanting common sense too.
Be honest… do you think this country cares more about people’s feelings right now than about protecting its own?
