For any parent, your child asking for a specific Halloween costume is fun. But for us? This is monumental.

Our resident Chaos Goblin is 4 years old, and because she has been almost entirely nonverbal until this school year, hearing her verbally ask for a character for the very first time was a moment I will never forget.

So when she asked to be Link, you had better believe Mom pulled out all the stops to make her the absolute best costume possible! 🗡️🛡️✨

I've traded my jewelry bench for a crochet hook to handcraft a full Hero of Time setup. The hat is finished with custom surface slip-stitch line work, and the tunic is officially underway. Pouring this kind of detail and love into something for her as she finds her voice makes every single stitch worth it. 💚

Now, back to finishing up some fall stackers and wire bangles for the market this weekend, and then right back to those tunic rows!

This gorgeous custom piece is off my bench and at home now.

This piece is crafted around that fantastic Mohave turquoise cab and the beautiful colors in it.

These are the other materials that I used in this piece of wearable art. Moonstone in sizes from 3mm all the way up to 8mm. Magenta and neon orange Czech glass (the colors are just as vibrant in person). Carnelian and raspberry jade. Finally, the unsung heroes are the 11/0 and 15/0 glass seed beads. They hold the main cuff together structurally.

P.S. As a bonus I've included a pic of the head of the needle I use to do all this bead work with. For those that are interested in the scale of what my eyes and hands are working with.

Had to pause on the brass and amber project. (Have you guessed what it is yet? 🤭) Started work on a custom order instead.

This piece is starting its journey off as a handful of beads, a cabochon, and a sketch (forgot to take a picture of that). When you buy one of my off-loom bead weave and wire work pieces, they all go through this journey (raw materials, a spark, and hard work).

To start, because the Mohave turquoise has no drilled holes for me to attach thread to, I have to encase the piece in a pe**te stitch bezel using 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads. I do all of this with the tiniest needle known to man and no magnifying glass because they get in the way of my hands.

After I have that cabochon secure, I start laying out the rest of the bracelet and begin to stitch that using the same 11/0 seed beads, 3-8mm moonstone beads, and Czech glass.

This piece is only about 1/3 of the way done because this is going to be the centerpiece for a multi-layered bracelet stack.
