A Can't Miss Event for Youth Songwriters! Featuring Lyrics Expert GEORGE SEAMAN

YOUTH SINGER-SONGWRITER COLLECTIVE #4

Youth Host: Alex Boyer

Lyrics Coach/Mentor: George Seaman

Sponsored by Donley's Music of Canton www.donleysmusic.com

Thursday, September 17th 7:00-9:00 pm. Alpharetta

*******

Every month, The Ranch opens its barn doors to young artist vocalists, guitar or piano players ages 15–21 for an inspiring session of original music, collaboration, and community. Giving emerging artists a supportive space to share their stories and song ideas, develop their craft, gain public performance confidence, hear feedback on their work, and connect with and learn from fellow youth musicians who are just as passionate about songwriting.

As an English teacher with 30+ years of classroom experience, George Seaman has analyzed, studied, and taught the intracacies of lyrical expression and how the union of ideas and content with structure and rhythm can help produce the perfect poem or song. George’s knowledge of composition and writing theory serves to remind him that the creative process, while elusive, is best executed when the artist values the role of revising and editing in bringing out the best a song has to offer. He is a student of the singer-songwriter tradition, always looking for the next lesson to be learned in the songs of John Prine, Hayes Carll or Lucinda Williams (just to name a few!). His first studio album, Smile Back at the World, is scheduled to be released in September 2026.

Attendance is limited to 7 youth artists to ensure equal attention on each participant.

$30 participation fee.

Each artist will receive a .wav file of their performance,
recorded on an analog Neve console.

Really? A week ending with big sounds, surprise visits, killer tracks, and creative sparks flying everywhere? Yep, at The Ranch!

Jeremy Dudman, head of Alpharetta High’s music technology program, brought the low-end magic, tracking stand-up bass for Amelia Farr’s Ranch-winning song, "Red Letter". That real instrument tone through a stereo ribbon mic? Killer.

Aidan Fisher—yes, the guitarist known for appearing as Eddie Munson in the epic Stranger Things “Master of Puppets” scene and for sharing the BIG rock star stage with Steel Panther at age 11 (YouTube it) —stopped by for a meet-and-greet with the amazing Lincoln Pope, breakout guitarist and lead vocalist for Hotels in Peru. Huge thanks to Shannon OKeefe Parish, the musician matchmaker. These two need to collab . . .

George Seaman was back in the studio working on a brand-new song while his new album "Smile Back at the World" heads into mastering and LP pressing. George keeps the most creative lyrics and stories anywhere, and this next one? Our lips are sealed—but trust us, you’ll want to hear this one. It has nothing to do with The Weather Channel. Nothing.

Ellie Boehmer laid down tracks for her new song “Doing Fine,” stacking more vocal layers than we could count—and every one of them added something special.

Youth trio Lincoln, Liam, and Liam of Hotels in Peru are back on the streaming trail with their second global release, “ultrachild” — an epic 5:36 addictive rock track that prompts repeat listens. With four distinct progressions and a high-energy double-time finish that nods to the best of ’80s/’90s rock, this release is a huge step forward from one of Atlanta’s most exciting young bands. Turn it up, share it, and add “ultrachild” to your playlist today.

The Ranch broke new ground today hosting its first classical recording session in the live room. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra members Joel Dallow on cello and Kenn Wagner on violin joined Houston classical audio engineer Mark DiClaudio to track a piece for a multiple award-winning NYC composer. Thanks to The Ranch’s video system, the composer watched from New York, heard the full session remotely, and offered real-time comments. Joel and Kenn’s precision playing was otherworldly.

An awesome Spencer Scott Smith tribute to the therapy that only vinyl records can provide. Priceless.

Yesterday, the Ranch welcomed Amelia Farr of Gainesville, a Judge's Pick winner of our Summer '26 Youth Music Artist Challenge. Amelia spent the day tracking her awesome winning song, Red Letter, which included seven harmony parts. Early mixes are spectacular and show off her compositional sense of depth and chorus. Stay tuned!

The Ranch is an official sponsor and offering a song recording package for the winning band! Our favorite EMO rock band Hotels in Peru won last year and is taking off!
