It comes from a sweet little nickname my husband gave me years ago: “Beets.” I don’t love beets (I don’t hate them either), but I absolutely love what the name represents — it’s warm, playful and full of love. Just like everything I make.
I taught myself to crochet during the quiet days of the pandemic, armed with YouTube tutorials, lots of patience and a stubborn left-handed streak. I’d always wanted to learn, especially after watching my grandma crochet growing up, but it finally clicked (with a few lefty-specific video searches). Once I got started, I couldn’t stop — I began making gifts, home goods and cozy little creations just for the joy of it. Eventually, the yarn stash started growing (as they do), and I realized I needed a way to support my hobby and share these pieces with others who love handmade things as much as I do. That’s how Beets & Stitches came to life. My slogan — Every Stitch Tells a Story — is inspired by my other lifelong love: reading. I’m an avid reader, and many of the colors and patterns I choose are drawn from the books I’ve recently read or the worlds I’ve imagined while turning pages.
