The way the corners are cut tells you the real age of the piece — wonky, uneven dovetails usually mean it's genuinely old and hand-built, while perfectly even ones are almost always newer and machine-made. Save this so you remember it next time you're hunting.

I spent the weekend doing just that — canning spaghetti sauce and sweet pickle relish, jars lined up on the counter like little bits of summer waiting for a snowy day. There's nothing quite like that feeling. 😊
