Home Cooked Music Podcast | Episode 1: Lexy Pettis

Home Cooked is a music podcast celebrating original artists from New Mexico. Each episode features intimate conversations, live performances, and behind-the-scenes storytelling with musicians shaping the state's vibrant independent music scene.

In our premiere episode, we sit down with Lexy Pettis, an Albuquerque-based singer-songwriter whose music blends intimate storytelling with the warmth of acoustic folk and the emotional clarity of modern Americana. Rooted in New Mexico's independent music community, Pettis has built a reputation for heartfelt performances that highlight her expressive voice, thoughtful lyrics, and a songwriting style that favors honesty over ornament.

Her work first gained wider attention through original songs like "Brother," a self-written track that showcases her melodic instincts and narrative depth. With a growing catalog of original material and a steady performance rhythm, Lexy Pettis represents the next wave of New Mexico songwriters—artists who draw from personal experience, regional culture, and a deep love of storytelling to create music that resonates with authenticity and heart.

Home Cooked is presented by C+C Publishing and Ambrosia NM, a creative platform dedicated to amplifying New Mexico's artists, musicians, and cultural storytellers.

"People be trippin', Son!" - Chris Chris

A few weeks back, two ____ ____ people went to Ambrosia hoping to sit in on the jam. Later, I got a text.

She complained about parking, said the vibe was off, then quoted her partner: "We're to good for that place."

She misspelled "too."

For me? Confirmation. I'm exactly where I belong.

I've always believed in attracting people, not persuading them. I don't need everyone under my tent. I need the right people. And, we've found our people.

These two thought insulting Ambrosia would elevate themselves. Wrong answer. Wrong crowd. I'm grateful we're building this together. See you on the 4th Thursday.

Bette Davis said it: "It's better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for someone you're not. It's a sign of your worth sometimes, if you're hated by the right people."

We're not for everyone. That's the point.
