There's just over 48 hours left before the 2026 call for NMDIG grant applications comes to a close. If you've been working on an application, or have been on the fence, now is the time to get it in before the deadline! The application window will close sharply at 11:59pm on Friday 2/27/26, so there's still time!

We look forward to hearing all your pitches for short form documentary projects that showcase the unique stories and perspectives here in New Mexico!

A big shoutout to one of our organizational partners, ! Studio 519 a hidden gem located in the heart of downtown Albuquerque and has a host of amazing resources, filmmaking equipment--from camera gear to computers for editing--and, or course, expertise.

This photo is from last year's broadcasted Q+A that we conduct each year with the incoming cohort of funded filmmakers at 519's in-house studio. Studio 519 is a taxpayer funded resource and we encourage all local filmmakers, podcasters, recording artists, etc. to take advantage of the truly valuable resource that it is! Joseph and his incredible staff at Studio 519 are there to support local creatives and filmmakers alike. Pay them a visit when you get a chance! 🎥😎

While the funding is the principal aspect that bring filmmakers to the program, NMDIG equally offers guidance, mentorship, and support throughout the 6-month time-frame and engagement. This occurs in the way of check-ins, communication, and progress reports. The jury and support committee provide a diverse array of viewpoints and various expertise whose feedback is there for the filmmakers. The program has built-in speaking and engagement opportunities through public screenings and media exposure that push filmmakers to develop their artistic vision and creative ideas. This is a great opportunity for filmmakers to develop professional practices and soft skills necessary to make headway in the film industry today.

We are thrilled to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 2026 grant funding cycle to support emerging documentary filmmakers here in New Mexico!

We anticipate funding between 6 and 8 applicants this year. Please don’t sleep on this opportunity to receive up to $4,000 in funding in addition to professional mentorship and programming to support your short-form documentary project! We can’t wait to see your project proposal.

The call will remain open until the 27th of Feb, so plenty of time to get an application in & please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!

What is NMDIG you ask?

Founded in 2024, the New Mexico Documentary Incubator Grant is New Mexico’s newest film grant funding opportunity specifically designed to support filmmakers and creatives working in documentary and non-fiction genres. The grant endeavors to cultivate new early-career and emerging talent in New Mexico who are new to the space or looking to make the next step in their filmmaking journey. Made up of a small team of professionals and volunteers, NMDIG is a collaborative effort to grow, support, and showcase all the incredible local documentary talent here in the state!
