Hey I'm Jules & I hail from Western Maryland in the mountains. What inspires my art is the voluptuous nature of women and their brutality when naked, how every curve leads to another curve and the beautiful roundness that comes from building on the human body. I love the rawness and dirtiness of painting, how the paint goes everywhere and how the colors mix. I love the textures and thickness of each brush stroke that transpire on the canvas. And I upcycle a lot of my canvases so I get to work with different layering of paint, the original artists image, which I will go over and prime with whatever background color suits my fancy at the hour or leave traces of slightness from their work hidden within. I appreciate imperfection with limbless figures revealing protruding bones and broken necks, fleshless and gnarly. I am an anarchist and believe that the antiauthoritarian state of being naked is just the tip of the political sentiment being communicated in my artwork. A symbol here or there reminds us of what we stand for and how art is our voice amidst noise from war, poverty, inequality, and injustice. I love painting figure, and I love being a feminist, so I hold the two very close and my morals and beliefs translate into imagery of what humanity has become. So my art is an act of protest against atrocities in this world and a way for me to communicate my ideas and thoughts using the human form to do so.
