In the summer of 2017, I was on the search for a new makeup. I was upset, if not hurt even that my current favorite makeup store (bare minerals) closed the only location in Alabama. This was my favorite place. I loved the store, loved the girls in it who were always extremely helpful. I could go in and ask question, try on the product before I bought, hold it, touch it, feel it. All that good stuff. Then, they closed! I was literally heartbroken. I didn’t know how I could go back to buying online, especially because they had so much product and sooooo many color options. When I tried to email questions to the website for help, the answers were very generic, not helpful. I missed my store. How very frustrating!
Then, a friend from high school posted a video about this new cream makeup called Maskcara. I loved the video, the simplicity, the ease and the outcome. This stuff was like magic. Too good to be true. However, I still couldn’t try the product. She was hours from me and this brand new company had no samples to try. Grrrr! Stuck again. I kept seeing her posts and contacted her about the product and my concerns. I researched the webpage and checked it out on social media. Then she said the magic words. There’s a 30 day guarantee!! HOLY COW! I’M IN! I was still skeptic. I just had a feeling deep down that this stuff would not work for pale face me. Boy was I wrong!
When the product arrived, I was so excited! The packaging was beautiful. So beautiful that if it didn’t work I’d still have wanted it just for the pretty box, cute tins, compact, and gorgeous brush. Next I looked at the how to card and applied everything to my face. It literally took 10 minutes! When I was done I couldn’t believe I was done. Could it be that easy? I remember thinking I had missed a step. I kept looking at the card and then myself in the mirror, but I had done it and it looked fantastic. I looked fantastic. ME? I never say that about myself. After about two weeks and a little skin adjusting issues since I had always worn powder, I was in lock, stock and barrel. This stuff was going to be great for the girls at my studio. I couldn’t wait to tell them and I couldn’t wait for them to try it. I manage a ballroom studio and this new cream makeup was going to be perfect for shows and competitions!
“Ok, I’ll just buy a kit so I can do the girls makeup and get a discount for myself. I don’t need to sell this stuff, I can’t sell anything to anyone anyway.” That’s exactly what I told myself. So I bought a kit, then I tried it on several girls once I got it. I didn’t even have to ask if they wanted to buy, they just want to anyway. I was shocked. Every single face I put it on, the makeup looked fantastic. This stuff really is magic!!! Then I realized there was all these beautiful artists all over the U.S. who were selling this stuff too! There was this huge network of women who were sooooo extremely helpful with questions I had. They were always there to help no matter what time. Then this name kept popping up everywhere in all the Maskcara feeds......Cara! Who the heck was Cara? She is the founder of the company and literally the best person ever! I started to really look at the company and see it from the inside out. Part of the mission statement reads “Helping others look beautiful is nice, but helping them believe they are beautiful is life changing” WOW! That’s so true.
