I love what I do.
How many can say that? I’ve went through so many jobs in my life because I refused to be miserable. I can’t believe where I am right now but here’s a little background story…
My dad was a DJ, one of the best from what I’ve heard around this area. I remember the late nights in the garage with stacks of records to a few years later burning stacks of CDs (miss the limewire days). Eventually he passed the business to me when I graduated from highschool. Granted I was hoping on his decks every now and then before that, plus had a set up in the basement at all times for me to mess with. At one point, I was really passionate about dancing and would just burn myself a CD and go in the basement and make a routine just to post it on vine. Once that phase passed because it was time to grow up a little, I started working. I’ve been a few places and all involve customer service in some way. I never even thought DJing could be my full time job. I thought it was always something someone did as a favor or on the side, plus I’ve never seen a woman DJ before.
As time went on, I found myself in a manager position at a place I really loved working. I still have love for that place and even have dreams about it. I just couldn’t have weekends off unfortunately and I was missing life. My work life balance wasn’t balanced at all. I had to do something because the fact I was missing out, started to dwell on my mental health. Then I quit and fortunately everything I learned there, helped me start my business.
I love making new connections, serving others, and leading a team. These qualities are perfect for the wedding industry. Get to know my couples, their vision, get to show up and show out for them, create an environment for their guests to kick back and have a good time, all while having a great team by my side doing the same things.
This is why I feel I’m more than just a DJ and it’s not because I’m a woman and that’s rare sort of thing. It’s because I genuinely love what I do, I apply what I’ve learned, manage your day, guide your guests, bring your vision to life, all while playing & mixing the right track at the right time.
