The BOX Gallery inside Summit Artspace is proud to present ArtPrize in the BOX Sept. 13-Oct. 5. The exhibit is free and open to all.

ArtPrize in the BOX is an all-media show with 70 works of art by 45 artists. Meet the artists at the opening reception on Friday, Sept. 13 from 5-8 p.m.

Juror John Sokol will select first, second and third prize winners and the public will select a people’s choice award. Awards will be announced on Saturday, Oct. 5

Extended hours: Thurs/Fri, 12-7 p.m., Sat, 12-5 p.m., 3rd Thursday (Sept. 19, 4-7 p.m.) and the Akron Artwalk (Oct. 5, 5-9 p.m.)

Thank you for being part of Akron Art Prize and the High Arts Festival.

Downtown Akron Partnership is honored to have dedicated efforts throughout the past seven years to support the growth of local artists and downtown as a hub for arts and culture in our region. Through Akron Art Prize and the High Arts Festival efforts, nearly 1,200 artists showcased their craft among more than 34,000 people, and $114,000 was awarded in prize money to help support local artists. We are grateful for the support of Peg’s Foundation, who has been our valued partner since the inception of Akron Art Prize and to Summit Artspace, The Nightlight, Jilly's Music Room, Zeber-Martell Studio and Gallery and the venue owners, operators and volunteers who helped make every event successful. We are also grateful to Burton D. Morgan Foundation for their support and to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation (Knight Foundation) for supporting the expansion of the festival to include musicians, filmmakers and literary artists.

While we will no longer host the High Arts Festival, Downtown Akron Partnership will continue to support and promote the art institutions and organizations who are working to build and strengthen the arts community in Akron. We have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with local artists, art venues and art supporters and look forward to expanding those connections beyond the parameters of the festival itself.

Thank you for making the High Arts Festival and Akron Art Prize events successful. We look forward to our next partnership together.

High Arts Fest musical performer Uno Lady, who was also Akron Soul Train's November artist-in-residence, is hosting a free performance on Feb. 8 from 7-10 p.m. at Akron Recording Company.

The performance is free and open to the public. Hors-d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

From 3rd Thursdays, public space lifts at Northside, N. High St. and Lock 3, roller dance parties, yoga and Zumba on Cascade Plaza, to lunchtime concerts, Green & Clean, High Arts Festival and Gilmore Girls day, we've had quite a year in downtown Akron!
