Yaaaaaaaaalllll!!! Last week I realized this is my 4th year at Summit ArtSpace! It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. I moved into my first studio on the first floor in July of 2017. Hey y’all! It’s been a super long time since I’ve introduced myself. Im Jess Skinner the owner and artist here at JBurgess Designs. JBurgess Designs is named after my grandpa James Burgess McCullough. He is my inspiration to build and reimagine. Growing up, my brother and I would visit my grandparents in Pensacola, Florida during the summers. We often watched my papa create magic with scraps of wood, transforming them into functional items such as, barns, dog houses, fencing, the list goes on! When I was 20 years old, I got married and wanted to transform my home and furniture. Almost instinctively I began to mimic my papa's behavior, embracing a love for wood work, repurposing, and design.

Here at JBurgess Designs, I create and reimagine furniture and home decor items to serve as visible reminders to pause and consider how we fill ourselves first and then our homes. So far we’ve explored rest through footstools, being a soft landing place for ourselves through floor poufs, and honoring our capacity through fabric bowls. I’m so glad you’re here! What’s been your favorite so far?

Y’all!!! Last year one of my childhood friends hit me up and asked me to make a dining room table her and hubby because they bought a home. Later I found out it was their real dining room table!!! I was so honored!!!! Honestly I still am! 💗💗💗 A forever fave both the table and the people!!!
